Hilariously, that Supra ran a 12.7 sec 400m in that video. Which equals about 12.7-12.8 in the quarter mile. Not a bad race for a barely modified Supra.

And what am I supposed to see? The McLaren did 11.045 in the quarter. The Veilside Supra did 12.7 w/ the guy in the Supra botching his shift (that's why he went, "ahhhh...." when he was shifting. Watch the vid again, it's really obvious). The Top Secret R33 I posted does it in 9, Top Secret Supra also around 9.

And the bugatti veyron is VW made Bugatti claims a launch from 0-188 mph can be achieved in a mere fourteen seconds and that the Veyron can reach a top speed of 250 mph. Wow! http://www.autoweb.com/content/resea...ent&vscat=NULL
Ummm . . . . yeah.
http://homepages.apci.net/~sirmyt/boards/1372gtr.mpg
Veilside R32 GT-R, 0-188 mph, 13.72 secs with a botched 1-2 shift 'cause the driver wasn't used to the clutch (noted in the video), 9.225 1/4 mile. The above mentioned Top Secret cars are even a bit quicker. I find this amusing since the Bugatti is apx. $1.7 mil. Also, most of these cars I posted are OLD news, from about 5-6 yrs ago, newer stuff is even quicker.

And all the cars u mentioned how miles can they give until they blow up runnin all that boast in them???
Never heard of the Wangan/Tokyo Shuto highway, have you? Top Secret builds their cars specifically for highway running. Smokey puts HUNDREDS of miles on those cars all the time testing/racing, they even have a base in Germany to test their cars on the Autobahn. These cars are built for high speed, high mileage use. They hold up pretty damn well. And that's just one shop, Top Secret's not the only garage doing Wangan tuning.

Face it Japanease cars aren't the fastest cars in the world you have to understand that..when it comes to speed european cars dont **** around..they will always come out with something even more sick...
Funny . . . JGTC/SuperGT is considered the fastest GT series in the world, car-wise. It's faster than ANY European series with cars of the same class, including DTM (which is a great series). It has more European drivers coming to Japan to drive in it than you can shake a stick at. Your favorite, the McLaren f1? In the last year it raced JGTC, 2003, it didn't even break the top 14 results-wise; it never even scored a point. Cool car actually, one of my faves (http://www.supergt.net/jgtc/race/200...am/03tm076.htm), but it routinely got its a$$ handed to it by Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. Prior years are somewhat better, but it never broke the top 10 ever. SOK team's McLaren f1 also never did much as well.

BTW, you're really the only one here saying any particular region/country's cars are the fastest. I freely admit that there are a LOT of really fast cars in the world, but you don't see me insulting people and telling them to f-off, just to make that point, which is my only beef with you. Furthermore, I only use Japanese cars for examples because they are what I know best -- I could find similar examples in American cars too, if I did a bit of reasearch. Face it yourself, Germans are fast, Japanese are fast, Italians are fast, Americans are fast, etc. -- stop being a ******, we understand your point better than you do.

Exactly. Japanese manufacturers have yet to build an actual true supercar. The Honda/Acura NSX is the only Japanese car to even really be close to that status. And yet modified Japanese sports cars such as the Skyline GT-R, 350Z and mkIV Supra run in some of the fastest races in the world.

They haven't even been building sports cars for that long. The 240Z was one of the first really serious attempts at a competitive Japanese sports car. It wasn't until the mid-eighties that the Japanese became serious about building sports cars. And within 5 years they had several of the best sports cars in the world in the NSX, 300ZX TT, TII RX-7, MR2, Miata, Supra Turbo, and R32 Skyline GT-R with the FD RX-7, and Supra TT on the close horizon.

And with that being said, the dawn of the Japanese supercar is near. The new 450+hp Nissan/Infiniti GT-R, 500+hp V-10 Lexus GT450/500, Mitsuoka Orochi, and 450+hp V-10 NSX are all confirmed. Even the recent IS500/Supra rumors are pointing to optional 400+hp V-8s. And at the price points they'll be offered at, they'll be giving Porsche, Ferrari, and Lambo something to think about.

OMG TcDepo, STFU ALREADY. You talk so much mess on this forum. The 2.0T has YET to prove itself on our shores, with our fuel, so don't go all masturbating about it yet. The 1.8T is NOT God, it is no better than any other 4 cyl with extensive aftermarket support. I know guys that have 380hp+ 1.8L escorts, accords, and civics, the 1.8T doesn't seem to be doing much better than that!

VW makes an expensive product that breaks all the time, and comes up close to last on ANY reliability survey that has been out in the past 5 years at least.

That GTI you posted isn't daily driveable, all it's power is made upwards of 5500rpm. It's a purpose built track car.

For you to say that an Evo or Sti is an inferior car to the GTI, is not only ignorant, it is wrong wrong wrong. If you think an EVO FQ 320 wouldn't make a APR GTI cry home to it'smomma, you are smoking crack. The Evo is a far superior track car in every aspect stock, and the GTI is not going to leave a modded one in the dust, in any configuration. I had a discussion with you in another thread about this, and you need to get off VWs nuts, seriously.
