the 24500 is for the grand touring model of the speed3. Base line is 22400. The GT doesnt add all that much so you could easily skip it. Stereo, leather trim seats, headlights.

Again, mazda will tell you they arent trying to compete with the wrx....its just a nice plus that it happens to compete with it.

Personally i love the wrx. Its just that everybody has one. Thats why i loved the Tc when i first got it...unique. Now i see em everywhere. With only 5000 speed 3s coming to the states its going to be a sleeper and you wont see many.

I cant wait

I didnt read the article yet, but i would definently buy the ms3 over the wrx and i would definently trade my tc for one. A friend of mine went to the dealerhip and they are sellin them for 27K.
14.3 at what trap speed? This car should be able to hit at least a high 13 with 280torque @ 3,000RPMs..

27k???? That's insane.. I wouldn't pay over $23,500 for it.

The 6.1 0-60 is bad driving, other magazines have hit high 5's.

Bloated MS3? They kept it FWD to keep the curb weight down. The WRX weighs slightly more then the MS3.

The WRX is going to win off the line (it's AWD, duh), but I think the MS3 would reel it in up top. If they went from a roll, the MS3 would kill the WRX.. That AWD is doing nothing but hurting the WRX from a roll.

How much HP and torque does the WRX have?

Didn't they put this out a year or 2 ago?

completely agree with this statement. a stock rex is decent from a line, but by 3rd gear (or a roll race) this is where they are lacking. i think a stock rex vs. a bolt-on tC from a 50-60 roll would be close?

I've raced a bone stock WRX from a 60mph roll before and it was extremely close.. We were dead even until 90-95mph then I pulled about 2 feet on him.. His front bumper was about even with my front tire.. Then I let off because of some traffic.

Alot of people don't believe it on this forum, but it really did happen and he was a decent driver. Neither of us shifted slow or missed any gears. Probably the closest race I've ever been in.

The mazdaspeed (MS) MX-5 isn't out yet.. Just the regular MX-5 is out.

I'm really don't like the miata's much.. If I was looking for a car like that I would probably pick a S2000 before that.

I wouldn't mind an older miata with a 5.0 in it however.

mazdaspeed 3 is nice, but its not going to be the baddest fwd car on the market The caliber srt4 will smoke it.

Heck a turbo calber r/t would smoke it (if i were going to buy an ugly calber it would be the r/t instead of an srt4).

srt4 = fwd
r/t= awd

The caliber will be interesting. However at this point its all pie in the sky....we've not seen real numbers on that car yet nor how the whole package comes together. It COULD make 300hp at the crank. It COULD be completely undrivable. It COULD be built with bubble gum and twist ties. We just dont know. A car is a total package, power numbers only tell you part of the story.

The problem with the srt4 has always been that its still a f'ing neon. I dont care how fast that car is, hell it could literally fly, but its still a neon. Every time i see a neon i laugh cause its a neon. I know the srt4's will spank my Tc but they're still neons.

caliber is not a neon Its ugly as sin though.

300hp at the crank is still > 270 hp at the crank.

The web site has its suspension set up and tires so, if it has what they claim. It shouldn't be bad.

The caliber srt-4 to suppose to be very similar to the neon srt-4 performance. Which isn't much faster (if any) then the MS3.

They should both be good for high 13s in the quarter. If anything I would think the MS3 would be faster due to being 6speed instead of 5, and having much better aerodynamics.

Either car company could of under-rated the car, it happens alot with FI cars.. I haven't seen a dyno for either one yet. But I do know that the mazda hits full torque at 3,000 RPMs and the redline isn't until 6,800RPMs.
