Default need help for working on a 98 bmw

my parents don't really want their 98 323i convertible, so i'm thinking about working on it. they bought used a year ago mainly for a spare car, but now no longer need it. they got it cheap cause it used to be a lease and the person that had it treated it like crap. the moldings are faded and mangled, and the side mirror molding looks like it has chemical burn. basically, the dealership service center qouted me at about 2000 dollars worth of repairs, mainly the transmission. the upside is that the paint is surpisingly in good condition, and the interior just needs a good detailing.

I know i can make this car run pretty well and look damn good, but i don't know much about BMWs. can anyone please direct me to good sites for BMW aftermarket parts, or forums dedicated to BMWs?
