Not a GTI but.....

Mods are:
APR EMCS
Neuspeed RS10 19" Rims
Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 235/35/19 rubber
Neuspeed sport springs with Neuspeed Blisten Dampers
Neuspeed rear sway bar
StopTech Big Brake Kit
European LED tail lights. These are the OEM tails the Jettas get in Europe complete with rear fog.
APR turbo back exhaust is ordered, just waiting on it's release and custom code for the ECU to get the most out of the exhaust.

It's a completely different car from my previous tC. So, a Apples to Apples comparison of the cars would be unfair. It's forced induction from the factory. Has a SLICK DSG tranny and great fuel economy even when chipped.

Like all things it's not perfect. I needs a limited slip diff with this much power coming out of the front wheels. No panoramic sunroof (or associated rattles). Looks like a sedan because it is. Before dropping has a 4x4 ride height.

But, mechanically, this is the same car a the GTI but, with a trunk.

I miss parts of the tC and the up and coming culture surrounding it but, I'm glad to be back into the VW community. Also, the radiness of the major tuners with products for these cars. No waiting on an ECU upgrade.

And for old times sake, the old tC that is now enjoying it's life with a 50 year old couple

I've still got 3 rims, two of which have minor curb rash on them and one in pristene condition with a new tire mounted on it for the tC if anyone is interested. Just email me at vortex_mod at mac dot com.

and why is that? the 03-04 GTI VR6 has 200hp and 180torque and weighs 3,000lbs... it runs almost the exact same quarter mile and 0-60 time as the tC. my friend has one and we race all the time, and I will actually beat him from the line until about 70-80mph, then he'll put 1 car length on me.

this new GTI is 300lbs heavier, has the same ammount of horsepower, and 27 more pounds of torque. the car is still going to running mid-low 15s (just like a tC)

A few people have Dynoe'd their stock GTIs and GLIs and they are putting down about 192HP to the wheels. The 200HP number at the crank is quite underrated. It's closer to 200 at the wheels and 220 at the crank. Torque is also underrated to about the same degree.

Were these dyno numbers taken from a wheel measurement or from the wheel hubs, because that can make a huge difference. Also, was 91 or 93 octane fuel used?

With the strictness of the new SAE 08/04 regulations, I doubt that the motor is underated. Even with the quick shifting DSG, the instrumentened acceleration tests that I have seen of the new GTI indicate to me that the motor is not underated.

Wheel measurement. Most on a mustang dyno. The 192 cars were running 91 octane, the ones pushing 200 at the wheels were running 93.

Here's a link with the Dyno sheets:
