know one knows what the true top speed is of the veyron, the 254ish' mph is the fastest its been drivin thus far... even if th porsche is faster top end, bugati's accesleration is sick, and the car is so plush its crazy, porsche wont top that

Porsche has a history of make the most drivable supercars around. there was an article in a recant car mag about a guy that drove his 911 GT3 across the country with little more then a flat tire. i also think the Porsche will be a better car since the Porsche engineers have much more experience with high performance cars/race cars when compared to the VW guys. dont get me wrong the Veyron is an amazing machine, but i dont think Porsche would be building this car if they didnt think they could do better and raise the bar a few notches.

The fact that you have to stop, put it in park, and then insert a seperate key to engauge "top speed mode", extremely toopid. Lawyers need to stay out of the engineering dept. I hope porsche wipes their hineys with the Veyron. Which, I see no reason why they won't.

the key thing is weird, but w/o it the 2nd of the 3 driving modes still allows something like 240mph im wondering though, why the anamosity towards the veyron, isnt it a mechanical platform in the auto industry?

Bugatti is already working on a 1250hp model to stay ahead of the competition. Lets see porsche try and beat that.

they will...the veyron weights over 4000lbs...im sure the porsche will be much lighter (IE handle, brake, and accelerate better) Read up on the old 917s...they were makeing 1200hp in the late 70s and hitting well over 240mph down the mulsane (sp) straight at le mans. also look into the 959, in the mid to late 80s they were getting 450hpout of a 2.8l engine. and if you still need proof look from some info on the 962; 3.3l 600hp. Porsche also has more overall wins at le man (16) then anyone else. if anyone is going to build a car to dethrone the veyron it will be porsche.

jus because a car weighs less dosnt mean it will handle better (i.e. not every car that honda, mitsubishi, acura, volkswagen, nissan, and toyota makes handels better than a veyron)

proof of what? that porsche is a leader in the auto world and a great car manufacturer? who dosnt know that? jus cuz they rock dosnt mean bugatti and volkswagen didnt make a bench-mark in history and an awesome car.

...so again, my question... why the bitterness towards bugatti?

the Veyron is an amazing machine, right now its THE pinnacle of the automotive world. i think its the 1st shot of the beginning of a horsepower war among the sports car companies of the world. I come from the VW world and i love what they did with this car. But i have been a Porschephile since birth. I think Porsche's 50 years of racing experience is what is going to make the difference here. I expect Porsche to eclipse the Veyron in any measurable category simply because the have been doing it for a lot longer.

The key thing is the single reason. It's just beyond bizarre, and quite frankly smacks of marketing hoopla. As if 240mph isn't plenty of speed to do disasterous things with. Other than that, I've just been in love with Porsche since as long as I can remember, so I'd love to seem them reclaim their position on the throne.

anyone remember the 959? (<----- Can someone make an emoticon for this?)

true story...about 20 or so 959 where imported to the US as "race cars" but they came with leather seats and radios…..(typical Porsche, always following the rules) The cars came into Holbert Porsche (the Porsche race car driver) My dad has a 1986 944, while his was being serviced they had all the 959s parked in the service garage and my dad touched every one of them on the gas tank lid….that was my bed time story when I was a kid hahah

they just had the 74th running of le mans 2 weeks ago..the ALMS is a totaly diff thing...

I dont think using the fact that Buggati went bankrupt is helping the arguement.

It only means that Buggati refuses to compromise. They make their cars as plush, powerfulll, and technolocily advanced as possible. Porsche makes high end cars...but they also make ____ty little 'econo' (as econo as porshe gets...lol) cars. That is why Bugatti when bankrupt.

Also.... VW and Porsche are like brother companies... Porsche has done so
many collaborations with Volkswagen over the years(914, 924, Cayenne,
and reportedly the upcoming Panamera)

Buggatti is the alpha male, and Porche is the red-headed step kid.
