Spy Shots-Chevys Secret HHR SS?
SEMA eNews, Vol. 9 No. 26 – June 28, 2006
SPY PHOTOS—CHEVROLET’S SECRET HHR SS
Chevy is still hush-hush on the subject, but these pictures show that Chevrolet is working on an SS version of their retro-styled HHR.
The Chevrolet HHR was voted one of the most accessory-friendly vehicles for 2006 by SEMA-member companies who regularly participate in technology sharing programs; the Chevrolet HHR received more than 60% of the votes. For more information on the HHR and the Design Awards go to www.sema.org/main/semaorghome.aspx?id=54083
Chevrolet has sold 42,478 HHRs in 2006 through May. Since hitting dealer showrooms last July, 83,498 consumers have purchased the HHR—contributing to the 8% growth in sales experienced by the new crossover.
It looks like the “housing” under the front bumper of the new version is attempting to hide the intercooler, but some things just aren't too easy to conceal. We can't tell you what body changes are in store in the coming years for the HHR, but we’re expecting this powertrain mule to evolve into the HHR SS—powered by the Solstice's 240-horsepower turbo.
