Default SS Cobalt and Saturn Redline vs. Supercharged tC!

Okay everyone,
We all know that the tC makes about 200 hp right!? And we all are hoping and begging that Scion will wake up and give us Stage upgrades to get more out our S/C tC's without compromising our warrenty. Well check out what GM is doing for the Saturn ION Redline and Chevy Cobalt SS! Hopefully Scion will follow suit!!!!

Yeah but those are still pretty impressive numbers! Especially considering that it will still be under the warrenty as GM installed products! Any more Comments? Thoughts Please!

Well if im reading this right....

You must go Stage 1, then Stage 2....

Stage 1 $500 (adds 31bhp and 5 ft lbs tq)
Stage 2 $400(adds 5bhp and 13 ft lbs tq)
Total $900.00 + Tax

So for over $1,000, you can add 36hp to the crank(bhp) and 18 ft lbs tq?

Thats really, really, really, really pathetic. You will lose all that hp throughout your power trains setup.

Sure this will give the Cavalier SS owners and the Saturn Redline owners some hope
but I'll still be blowin their doors off, even when I give them 3 lengths..

Can you say... GM isnt selling these cars? Scion has farrrr exceeded everyone expectations... even mine to be honest and ive own mine since Aug 24, 2004

Scion Rules...Deal with it GM

Actually, you can go directly to stage 2 and save some money, I think stage 2 costs about $750.

Also, these stage kits gains are apparently *way* underrated. One guy on cobaltss.net dynoed 249whp/218wtq with stage 2 and a intake. That's a wonderful amount of power for the money.

Ah well thank you for correcting me, I didnt know you could jump to stage 2, thought you had to go in order b/c both stages include different items

249whp thats respectable, I can give props for that

218wtq..... with a Stage 2 S/C??

I mean dont get me wrong, nice power for the money, but they still arent THAT fast. When I see ppl who post their dyno #'s I immediately look at the WTQ. I dont care about WHP.

I wanna see some slips from that kid who posted the 249/218

TRD S/C > GM S/C

+1 SCION/TRD

It's not like the tC with a TRD SC is a torque monster. With the pulley, and several other bolt-ons (pretty much what chevy would consider stage 2) they're making close to the same ammount of torque.

GM seems to be moving in the right direction. has anyone seen the SKY REDLINE. that thing is a work of art. If the price on that thing stays competitive, GM dealer will have a hard time keeping those car on the lot.

Agreed, its still cheaper for a tC owner to buy a turbo kit and acheive and surpass the numbers they can make with that blower.

I don't know. Think of all the initial hype that the GTO (Holden Monaro) created in its debut, it turned out to be a .
It all comes down to the market. If there is a market that wants a GM roadster that costs $30g+, then it may work.

The problem is that the market for small roadsters is, well, small. I'm an MX-5 guy myself (own a '91), but a 260hp (not so) lightweight roadster sounds good.

I have two words for the 2.0 Ecotec that pushes 260hp: Turbo Lag...

GM's upgrade options, in my opinion, are an outstanding idea. People have made 1000 horsepower with GM options. Do a search on the Ecotec and you'll find that the sky is the limit if your not stopped at the bottom of your wallet. I wish Toyota offered that. If someone decides to get a Cobalt or whatever, regardless of any type of aftermarket support, they will always have GM itself to look to for a bottomless pit of performance parts.
The Cobalt is a car rated at 205 HP that dyno's at 210 at the wheels. Go figure on everything else they rate. Turbo lag on a supercharger...hmmm.

the SS makes a little less than 15 psi out the box. and my friend has one and its a lot quicker than you might think. now the sky redline and the new "Opel" version 3 door hatch that Saturn is bringing to the states o replace the Ion is going to have the I4 turbo too. some other things to look at is this a twin charged Ion redline http://videos.streetfire.net/video/8...C296E45939.htm
yes i know the video is cheesey but you get the picture and whatch the spedo when he gets on it.

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....5-126420C4B395

i know you guys are all about the tC but it is by far not the superior auto. its great but dont bash on other cars b/c you think you know. the SS is insane compared to the tC with the TRD Blower. the power on the SS comes on all at once. when my friend billy dynoed his it made 205 whp and 211 wtq out the box. and the tq came on at 1735 and was a flat line all the way across the dyno. ohh and just for ____s and giggles he is picking his car up today from the dealer with Stage 2 on it so ill post back later and tell you how it is.

Heartily agreed. I love my tC and have no plans of changing anytime soon but I have respect for that Ecotec powerplant.
