not that much more than a tc considering that ur gettin a car that drives smoother and better and feels better...starts at 21,900 whihc is negotible thats for a standard gti its comes with more than enough faetures at that price...Tc now are $18,000 now that the prices went up that includs tax and title charges now lets say u want to make it a 200hp car u gotta spend 3,000 for the s/c kit w/o install and eventually u'll need a new clucth and will have to upgrade ur tires and suspension that surpass the price u get a gti whihc comes with everything except Sunroof(whocares adds weight anyways) at $20,000 and change out the door its better off correct????

Where is the engine made - is it Brazil like the Bimmer and Mini kits? If so, get AAA now.

I said I was done with this arguement and Iam. Iam seriously just curioius as to how you got the cfar for 20,000 I know people who work at dealerships and to my experience they do not sell brand new cars for less then the sticker price in most cases its way over. Not saying ou are lying I just want to know exactly what you paid for the car with taxes and so on. I mean the cars msrp is 21990 without taxes or destination fee if they sell it to you for that the dealer is barely making anything on it. Hey if you got the car for less then that more power to you I just want to know exactly what you paid. If you feel uncomfortable with posting the price here pm me Ill appreciate it.

I'm not sure the sticker tells what factory the engines come from - but I know BMW has a factory in Brazil, and the Bimmers and Minis that use those engines have had trouble. I jsut read though that BMW sold that facility to China.
So, I don't know where the new V-Dub engines are made for this car.
I'm German, and I love things made in Germany, and I actually like the looks of many VWs, but the reliability has been spotty.
The new GTI - which I saw two of on Friday in Santa Monica, looks cool. Not my thing, but I think it's nice.

well the way i got it so low is because i brought my dad with me who is an accounting since he's good with numbers and all and is an excellent negotier..the dealership tried to rip us off givin us offers... like 23,500 with taxes and everything and my dad is just so good at it that he brought it down to about high $20,000 basicially $21,000

my dad also neg. the apr rates with them and got it down 4.7% and payin $190 a month for it i put down $9,000.... its goin to b tough gettin that price anywhere else cause the cars just came out...u will be able to get that price around the summer once they are flooded with them in the dealership...

so your fully loaded. 27k car as you listed before is not less than 21k? which is it daddy'd boy? 21k or 27k?

if they sold a loaded gti for 21k the dealership would be selling it below their cost..........

no dealer does that on a brand new "hot" model. only companies who sell cars like that are gm....(cause no one wants their chitty gas guzzling , ugly suv's)

o ya and about the STI its a 35k car and STi front brakes: $330 each disc, $300+ brake pads. That's the most expensive OEM braking system ever installed on a car under $40k. It sure makes me wonder how much was left for the other important stuff and where they cut corners to get them on the car and stay in budget. brakes are going to cost more, so will new tires. Everything for the STI will probably cost double what it would for the gti. Have you contacted insurance company to see how much your rates will change if you buy the STI? You gotta be an absoulout retart to spend 35k on a subaru

its better off gettin a g35 or even IS350 or put a little more in for a s4 or M3 at that price more classy and still fast

I'm sure the GTI is faster and drives nicer than a Tc, but in my opinion, the front is horrendous. It looks like it has a huge gaping hole in the front. Audi and VW are designing some horrible looking cars with their "corporate face."

The Tc is a nice-looking, reasonable performing car that is should have good reliability and yet has a fairly low price.

The GTI is a different kind of car.

no dout the tc is a beautiful car the only thing i dont like about it that messed up the whole car is the back other then that its a beautiful car...the back just doesn't fit the whole style of the car...and about the front of the gti vw/audi it just the european look thats what makes it a nice car...i honestly love the front but not feelin the back in the gti but i''m sure it'll grow into me...gti looks excatly like the Peugeot 308 and the Renault its just the euro look

STi is hands down the best car you are going to get for under $40,000 in terms of overall performance. $35,000? I don't know where you live, but base price on a STi here is $30,900. Also, you talk about budget. If you can afford insurance and an STi in general, you will have money for aftermarket if you wanted it.

Guys, please quit comparing the tC to the GTi. Too many vs. threads that are absolutely pointless. The tC is a nice looking car, overweight, underpowered with large displacement, and handles decent for what it is. So lets not compare the tC to sports cars or true sport compacts, its pointless. I'm not trying to be rude, but yeah.
