Default USDM Nissan Cube

from Autoblog.com

Here it is. It's "tomorrow" in Japan, and Nissan has unleashed the motherlode of new Nissan Cube photos – including three showing the U.S.-Spec version that'll be rolled out at the LA Auto Show tomorrow. There's no accompanying press release at the moment, but the Japanese media is running their stories as we speak. JDM Cubes are equipped with a 107-hp/109 lb-ft 1.5L four-cylinder mated to a CVT transmission. Front- and four-wheel-drive versions are available. We'll get a different engine with more power that should deliver fuel economy in the Versa neighborhood. More on that tomorrow from our team in LA.

The three shots of the U.S.-market bodywork show, as expected, the reverse of the JDM car. Kudos to Nissan for doing a second body for left-hand drive markets. Inside, the simple appointments of the current Cube are updated with better shapes and, hopefully, a bigger, more upscale mix of materials. The bench seat returns in the JDM car, and there's no reason to believe we won't see it here as well. A water-droplet theme introduced in that silly teaser video we showed you last week is present in the cupholders and also available as ceiling trim inside the passenger compartment. Check out the galleries below for photos of just about everything, including the Japan-specific Lifecare (disabled access) and Autech Rider versions.

Come back tomorrow, when the gang in LA will deliver live coverage of the U.S. car's debut. We liked the JDM version, and we're really looking forward to trying out the Cube again now that it's been engineered for our market's needs.

I want one!

Sorry 2nd gen Scions, but Toyota should have brought the new bB. After owning a gen 1 xB I'm lovin the small city cars. I just can't deal with the bloated xB2, and the xD is just too boring.

Can't wait to see the Cube at the LA auto show.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/l...s-cube-y-cube/

The size of a gen 1 xB, with 122 hp, 1.8 with a 6 speed. Sweet!

it will probably be the next HHR, release to late. It should of came out when the 1st gen xb hit the market. The dealer next to us made a big deal about the ford flex when the came out and they are all still sitting there. way over priced at 30k!!!

It's never too late to bring funky JDM cult cars to the US.

I think Scion scrapped the Gen 1 xB TOO EARLY.

Scion didn't scrap the xB1. Toyota Japan cut production to build new stuff. The Cube never really rubbed off on me. I didn't like the wrap around window. altho it's one of very few JDM cars that doesn't look stupid these days. At least they raised the tail lites. but they look funny there to me now. idk, QNC bB for the win

By that I mean, they scrapped the idea of using the bB as a Scion. We should have kept it going and got the new bB. Screw the Rumion.

son of a ***** lol i really did NOT like them as much as the xb when I first saw them a year ago, but they're starting to grow on me. my gf hates my (04) xb, i told her i liked the cube and she shook her head. lol i think the classic xb is, well, a classic...the cube should be a hit in the us, plus its a bit smaller too WITH a few more hp under the hood for passing, etc. Can't wait to see how the cube scene takes off in the Us...i MIGHT just have to get one lol

new design is trying to hide the wraparound back window unlike the last version. still don't like the roundy windows.

I like those modded ones but if you look the USDM one doesn't have that cool front end. That is one of the things I liked the best
