What up-and-coming SRT-4. They are suppose to be going out of production last time I checked.

I think someone might just as well pinch a loaf on the assembly line and slap some wheels on it!!

They are fast...I know that much, but it's still a neon no matter which way you cut it.

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/show...hlight=caliber

here are a few pics of a non-SRT caliber. as with all srt vehicles, it will have a revised fascia when the final production model comes out. It will use a turbo'd variant of the new world engine connected with a 6 speed transmission and put out around 260 crank horsepower giving it slightly better straightline performance than the "first gen," neon based, srt-4. A FMIC will come stock, and it looks as if it will have a single exhaust tip instead of the split catback found on the last srt-4 model.

I miss my old srt-4, and i would rather have that than this new one. I want a sports car, not a sports suv/car hybrid.

That thing is hideous.

Is it really that difficult for an American company to design a car that doesn't look like crap (with some exceptions, of course)?

The srt version of the caliber is going to be a 6 speed manual. I personally think that the design of the caliber was influenced greatly by the success of the magnum. a powerful station wagon sold well, so they just brought that same thinking into the design studio of hte caliber. and yes i know, they ended production of the neon in early september of last year. the same plant that produced the neon will now be producing calibers.

yes butt ugly..SRT-4s are hella fast though and you gotta give them the respect even though it is an overpowered neon. or you can wait 75k miles later and talk crap since that's their life excectancy lol

from what i've seen/read/heard, the srt4 had a good dose of hp, but also came with mechanical/reliability issues. If Chrysler can solve those issues ( they should know enough that these aren't bought for economy--they will be driven hard ) then they will bring out a competitive car. But if they don't, and you want something that runs say in the 13's, why spend 20k+ for it? If my sole purpose was to hit strong 1/4 times, knowing things could be breaking.... i sure wouldn't be doing it in a new car ( any new car ).
my 2 cents.

Diamler Chrysler and Mitsubishi have been buddies for a very long time. I wanna say more than over 30 years. You ever hear Mitsu guys talking about DSM? That just means Diamond Star Motors. Which was the name of the Diamler Chrysler/Mitsubishi "partnership". If you look at both Mitsubishi and Chysler vehicles Mitsubishi vehicles have diamond emblems on their hoods and Chryslers have a Star on theirs.
