With 8 yrs experience, I'd say go for the Ninja 650R or the ZX-6R.
Ninja. Buell is made by Harley, and they aren't exactly known for being reliable.
Buells are actually quite reliable. Less standard maint. than your typical metric bike.

I've been shopping for a Buell myself. Looking at getting a Lightning XB9SX.

How can you have any less maintenance than an oil change a season?

And I disagree about the reliable part, especially when compared to a Honzukikawimaha.

^^They don't need any chain maintenance at all (belt drive) and they don't rev super high so less valve adjustments.

The early Buells weren't stellar when it came to reliability, but the company has come a long way since the early days. Buell is a stand alone company, HD does not make Buells.

Buell is a subsidiary of Harley and all the engines in their bikes are modified Sportster engines.

Not entirely true but I guess it comes down to the rider. I enjoy my 225 dual sport a lot more than any of the bigger bikes I've ridden. It might not be as fast but the light weight is really nice for commuting with.
To the OP: What do you plan on using the bike for? How long are you going to own it? What is your riding style? I might suggest riding all the bikes you are interested in that way you know what you are and aren't missing with each one. GL

For the belts, correct me if I'm wrong bue even though you don't need to re-adjust tension like the chain don't they wear quicker and require replacement more often?
