One of my coworkers has a son that turbo'd his Tiburon. And blew the motor. He wasn't even running alot of boost.

MadOnion, what dealership are you at? I'm guessing not in Texas, much less in my city.

It appears that the GT version which they sell in the USA has the same engine specs as the tuscani version sold elsewhere.

Yep. And I've driven the GT. So I guess that took all the fun out of that.

*snarfs dr pepper* 2-3lbs?
No WONDER that guy here hasn't done anything but add teh n0s and teh noizemakerz..

Think I could take a Tuscani running a 50 shot? Those things seem like they're so inefficient that it's possible...

No, he had other stuff done to it like exhaust and some sort of fuel management system I think, at least. Either way.. Don't Boost A Tiburon!

It is actually better to supercharge a Tibi, specifically the GT V6s and with a whipple since one can get 10lbs of boost of it. But that also requires upgrading the intake, fuel pumps, mapping throttle body as well as exhaust in order to prevent it from running a lean fuel mixture.

On an interesting note the 1996-2000 Tiburon 2.0l I4s take better to turbocharging or can at least handling a whole lot more boost.

Uhh man you can boost a tib if you do it right. And that includes beefing up the gaskets and engine. You can't turbo anything unless you do it right.

The question is, though, would you WANT to bother doing it right? There's a reason its not one of the commonly-selected tuner platforms.. Some cars tune much better than others..

Its not worth it. You will never see a Hyundai in a tuner mag. You can spend thousands less and make a civic dx faster.
