Your thoughts on getting the same car as a friend?
I'm not even sure I'm getting a new car yet, but I thought I'd ask for your opinions on the subject.. My friends drive an FC, GC8, Evo IX, Evo X and my other friend might pick up an S2K or 350Z. The problem is.. I'm thinking of getting one of those cars (maybe not the same model as the GC8 and etc) but they already own one.. What would you think if your friend got the same car as you? I don't want them to feel like I'm copying them.

Get whatever car you want. If anything, ask them to try theirs out and tell them you're interested in getting one. Then just personalize it. It won't be the same car.
That said, if your friends think you're copying them just b/c you got the same car... f them. Those are some pretty crappy friends.

Ooh alright thanks guys, all good advice. And M3's are real cool but I heard maintenance is hell to keep up with them? Especially used ones that are out of warranty?
And I know this is kind of trailing off topic but would anyone suggest any other cars within the price range of the cars I listed above? Basically anything import, around or under the price range and preferably AWD or RWD?

Get the car you like and make it your own. If it does happen to be the same as one of your friends, ask them about the car, their likes/dislikes, it's quirks, etc. It'll be part of your research about the car. The moment you get something based solely on what others may think of it, it becomes theirs, not yours (I know, very esoteric).

I and 2 of my friends at some point all had scions ( I still have my R.S. my 1st friend gave his tC to his little bro and got himself an 09 MB E350 with AMG package and my second friend traded in his tC and now drives acura TL, i'm planning on keeping my tC as a fun car and in a year or two will probably get infiniti M35x or something in that luxury segment), so really if they are your good friends it should actually even make you closer as now you will have more common topics to discuss and more reasons to hang out together ( check out car and etc ) ...

I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as it's not the exact same it shouldn't matter. We have a car club up here that several people have WRXs or Supras or MR2s or whatever, and nobody complains. Actually we like to check out the different stuff on all of them. And... it gives the boys the opportunity to play the ____-measuring game

No seriously. They do! And it is hilarious. But the day I brought in my new tC right after I bought it. They all crapped their pants pretty much. And they looked at my husband and said "THAT is hers?" and he said "Yep, paid for it herself. I'm not on the title". And then they looked at me and said "THAT came stock??" Lol.
But after a few weeks it was back to ____-measuring again Wait til I try to get my hands on the elusive supercharger...
But that's just it. As long as there's something new and exciting about your vehicle it doesn't matter what you have as long as it competitive in some way. (Except we sort have a bias against civics... no offense to anyone who drives one. I've seen some decent ones, I have to admit.)

No it definitely shouldn't matter. A lot of my friends have the same cars, no one really complains at all. You just have to make it personally yours, don't do all the same mods as someone else, especially aesthetic mods.
