These were at The Learning Curve autocross school in Joliet, IL 5th & 6th April

Although I'm driving in these, my instructor set the fastest STS time in none other than my 100hp XA. After that. it was known around the grid as World's Fastest Scion. He set me up for disappointment, as I came nowhere near his time. In reality, he said I should shoot for a time I came very close to. Lotsa fun!

That's the dirt track.

We were racing in the parking lot between the dirt track & the drag strip.

Rt 66 also has a nascar oval across the street.

This weekend, I'll be at Miller Park in Milwaukee (if the rain stops...)

Actually, I run in Street Mod (just got my numbers done for this event, now I need to make my class magnets). I did a lot of drag racing last year so I don't have much for suspension mods yet (TRD springs and Hotchkis strut tower bar). However, because of the drag racing, I bought a turbo over the winter. That kicks me up to SM where I fully plan on getting slaughtered until I get better suspension mods.

It was kind of funny, my first autocross event was the beginning of April. I wasn't sure if I was STS or SM. So I go up to the registration table and as I am filling out the registration info, I told them that I wasn't sure what class I was in. They asked what car was mine and I said the red Scion. They glanced over at it and said that STS sounds right. Then I told them it had a turbo on it. All at the same time, the three guys at the table go "ooohhhhhhh". Everyone around started laughing because they all did it at the same time. I just thought it was funny.

Not sure how I did yet as results aren't up yet. I felt I ran decent times considering I was running pig rich at the event. In the two events I have run in this year, I realize that I really need to order some sways and start working on getting a LSD.

The biggest thing that helps me is seat time - the nut behind the wheel!

a rear antisway will help a lot.

If you're in SM, are you allowed slicks?
go with the fattest tire you're allowed/can reasonably fit. Going undersized a little if actually favored here.
There's a fast Modified Focus here who runs 14" wheels & slicks
as for dampers, the fast guys here seem to favor Konis over coilovers.

Yea, we are allowed to run R-comps in street mod. I am looking at getting a set of 16" by 8" Rotas and putting some R-comps on them for track days. Should really help out with my traction problems.

And how are koni's favored over coilovers? Coils give you so much more adjustability which is what you need to get your car dialed in. With the Tein coilovers I am getting, I'll be able to adjust ride height, dampening, and camber. You can't do that with shocks/struts.
