D16 = type of engine found in USDM Hondas. Its the retarded little brother of the JDM B16, which is a beast of an engine.

Be a bit more specific, what year was this civic EG/EK? Hmm if I'm not mistaken there are versions of D16 with and without VTEC. In the one with VTEC I believe you are looking at 127 hp at the crank. I dunno but I'm not confident in saying that even if you had I/H/E, pulleys, lighten flywheel, stage 1 clutch, that you would have a chance. They are low in torque so you may beat it off the line. I suppose some will say that with those mods, it could be a driver's race. Are you driving manual or auto?

Another suggestion is sprayin (25 - 30 shot) but I don't believe we know the long terms affects of doing this. But then again, there are people out there just slapping on turbos or superchargers so who know what the long term affects of that are.

It was an EK hatch with a D16 swap in it. I guess I shouldn't say its slow seeing how I lost. Would higher compression ratio pistons help?

He said it had a B16 in it when he bought it, but the previous owner swapped a D16 in it for gas milage.
