tc vs. prelude

the third generation prelude could out slalom porsches, lambos and ferraris. some came with lsd from the factory and then there were super handling models (sh)
they have alot of things that tc owners would kill for, 200 hp from an na engine, bigger gas tank, better handling, lsd, better mpg. they also had some very nice interiors. so yeah, the guys who have nice ones are probably very proud or cocky.

I dont see a lot of Ludes now adays either, and a lot of the owners are......... not so nice. ANd no offense to anyone, I usually see them driven by young white guys that have their hats flipped on backwards. Most of the properly modded Ludes are gone....

In my apartment complex there is a younger asian guy with a very clean '00/'01 Prelude "Type SH". Its in perfect shape, looks completely stock and I'm sure it is. On one lucky occasion we left the complex at the same time, me in front of him, turning left onto a 4 lane road. I waited casually for him to make a move, never did. Eventually we come up upon a busier intersection and he jogs in front of me. I was curious to engage so I made a blatant signal as to turn to the right into the arterial and he, while in front of me notices, takes the bait. He aggresively takes the arterial to the right and guns it onto another 4 lane road, this one completely empty with about 300 yards of road till a red light. So I'm watching him in front of me so I get on it. I notice I am fetching him hard. As fate would have it there still was the red light, just waiting to frame us up and I'm thinkin', "Oooh, this is gonna be ugly..." He revs his engine, light turns green, his tires squeal, I intentionally wait a split second then I launch hard, hit second gear, really blow by em, I mean bad, hit third, ride it out, thats all I need as he is already distant. Years later, he would do a ricer fly by with his hand out the window, bouncing through the center lane.

Not a win to brag about but it was still a lot of fun. Thats my experience with a Prelude.

Its more likely the car is incredibley slow until later RPM ranges and then the power comes on so that it seems like "something" is pulling hard. Based on the average review of a stock tC and a Prelude, the tC ways less and is slightly faster.

lol.. so much BS in this thread its hilarious lol..07 motors are not diferent then 06.. only thing that changed are the redlines lol.. wow 200 more rpms lol.. sorry..both motors have 9.6.1 and the 07 is rated 1 more hp/tq.. thats basically a drivers race... 1 hp is not going to give you car lengths... stock for stock..ITS A DRIVERS RACE.. goddam!...
and if your an auto tc yes you will most likely in fact you should be loosing to a prelude.. even if its the h22 non vtec or h23.. their TQ and number + lighter chasis and lower gearing will place them ahead of you by 2nd gear if not first if they know how to launch... and if its an h22 or 23 vtec... by 5k rpms he will start pulling..only way a tc should win if its a regular non vtec or the prelude driver is a horrible driver. you will have in certain instances a tc tie or pull ahead but thats rare...

I was under the impression that in order for Scion to claim the same SAE ratings they had to tweak the motor some. In other words a 2005 tC would rate lower than the claimed 163 if tested under current SAE regulations or whatever whereas a 2007 would rate higher than the claimed #'s if tested under old regs.

Every car has a group of people that will set a bad name for it. Who on here are cool with SRT4 Owners, how about them stangs? The same way we feel about them, they feel about us. My love is a prelude owner/driver. She's an awesome person. Really loves her lude just as mich as I love my tC.
We're talking about a 7+ year diffrence maybe even more in technology. If honda continued the prelude line, would we be able to say they suck? i wont. I love that car. Awesome high end power, looks to kill, and fun to drive on the twisty roads. I know my tC can't handle half as well as her lude can. And some of the models had technology way ahead of the times. Digital guages among other things. So for 80s-90s car it can still hold it's own.
My tC is manual, stock under the hood, her's sport shift and stock as well. But I can roast many other cars on the roads in her prelude that my tC can't. and it goes both ways.
On topic. Prepare to have your butt handed to you. Them preludes are killers, and I'm not so sure but they have better street cred than our tC's. For now...
