Default This Weekend's AutoX Videos!

So here are my videos from this weekend... was a nice day overall. I had some major issues keeping my rear end in check again. I originally wanted to change my rear sway from stiff to medium but my hex nut is apparently now stripped (new endlinks soon - will be taken care of). I ended up 2nd of 4 by .128 seconds.

Disappointing, but if you would have seen how awful I did in the morning, you would be happy with that time too.

So here are the vids:

Groan. You fared better than my weekend autocross then.

Went to the KC National Tour, so my epic fail is now on the main SCCA site.

- Somebody tried to carjack a Tacoma tow vehicle at the Denny's outside the event on Saturday morning, and shot the owner in the leg when he told the guys to get bent. Dunno the extent of his condition, but he did have to have surgery.

- Last I checked, I held down last place in STS over the two days by a good five seconds. This is against the likes of Andy Hollis and Jesse Caudill.

- My BFGoodrich tires are officially garbage for competition use. I was the only person running BFG's out of the 171 entrants that ran. Now I know why.

All that aside, it was an awesome time. Driving across the state and competing in a national-level multi-day event while staying (for free!) with several friends and meeting some SL people... kicks ___.

Damn. That sounds like a rough weekend. I ran BFGs last year... nothing special actually. They're fun for every day driving but don't give you near the grip as the Azenis or probably RE010Rs. I'm sure it was a good experience though. I haven't done any of the national tour or divisional events (we just had one a couple weeks ago for the NE division). I mean to someday, but I guess I'm just affraid of getting seriously smoked.

No, they don't... not by a long shot. On a related note, Andy Hollis was running completely shaved RE-01R's (that actually seemed to have camber shaved into them), and the level of grip he seemed to be getting in his 1950lb Civic Si was just staggering. They were basically street legal R-comps.

Don't be! Even if you do, it's a fantastic way to spend a weekend vacation.

I would have done the recent divisional race here... except we were out of town for the Scion VIP event. Having the Seneca Army Depot here means we have a big location fairly close. So if they come through next year, I may hit it up.

Front is soft and rear is stiff. Going to switch the rear to medium when I get the dezod endlinks.

Okay, I didn't bother with the front sway...Sold it instead of paying to get it installed, lol.

I know some of them have sound restrictions, but do they check for working cats?

There are sound meters at events with sound restrictions... and they're very serious about it. If your car violates SPL twice on course, you're DSQ for the day and you don't get a refund.

Working cat's, though... not so much enforced. You'd have to be protested for that to come under scrutiny.

Alright, wasn't sure on the cats, I know Time Attack tests the cars for working cats. I should be fine for sound with my PTuning exhaust.

The only cars that really come close are FP and Mod cars. The restriction at KC was 95db @ 100'... so no, I don't think your PTuning exhaust is going to be THAT loud.

He's fairly serious. has been to a bunch of events this year. For being the pig that it is, he does pretty damn good. Many people would like to see him in a decently prepped car and see what he can do.

Wow that blows. I wanted to see if you'd be up for some Go-Karting this Saturday . I went for the first time last weekend and I was kicking ___. 4th fastest lap of the day and I had a bunch of guys trying to setup races with me because they couldn't stand getting stuck behind people running over 1 minute laps (my fastest was 49.849, track record is like 45). Some of the guys there were saying 50 seconds was a challenge, so I made it my goal. I'm aiming for sub-49 for this weekend :D.

I'm probably going to do Go-Karting during this off-season, then next year I'll take the jump to AutoX and Time Attack. Gotta build up some more confidence.

Ya, I'd love to try it some time. There are apparently two tracks further upstate NY. One in Batavia (outside of buffalo) and one called Cherry Valley south of Syracuse. They're actually each about the same distance from me... which is around 2 hours or just over.

I hear the Batavia one is fun and they rent karts. Cherry Valley is used for autox too - and I've been meaning to run an event up there some time.

Some day.
