XRS vs TC
OK, I have a question, now I've looked at specs, but it seems to me that the TC should beat a XRS matrix and corolla. Yes, they have more horses, but, a lot less torque, and the horses come very late, wouldn't a Tc pull them? Just wondering. Has anyone raced any XRS yet?

From a standstill, it would be very close. But anything rolling, especially highway speeds, you will bowdown to vvti-l

Con 25 - lbs of torque
Pro 300lbs lighter
Con - High RPM Power
Pro - Highway High RPM power
Con - ??
Pro - 6Spd, more aggressive gearing
Con - Uses Premium Gas
Pro - ??

I would have got the XRS if it was the same price as the Scion TC. I actually like the look of the corolla and the 4 doors are nice. But it was to expensive and I got the Scion.
Also I think the best thing about the XRS is that they are rare. Made in very small numbers.

Here is a comparison table of gear ratios taking into account final drive and tire sizes for tC / XRS / plain jane 5-speed rolla/matrix. You can see that first two gears are very close on tC / XRS, 3rd is a tad taller, but still not as bad on a classic 5-speed. Where XRS will get us is on a higher redline - for 0-60 XRS shifts once, we have to shift twice.

actually Ive seen times for the corolla and Matrix and they are slightly slower than the tC.
I forgot where I saw it but the Corolla XRS' 0-60 was 7.6 and the C&D time for teh tC was 7.4.
not a big difference but yea...
its gonna have to depend on the driver too.

I drive an XRS Matrix, and once that car hits lift see ya!
Now I have of course driven a tC, and thought it was nice and all, but the 2ZZ is such a great engine, and when mated to that 6-speed, it is a blast to drive. The big difference between the tC and XRS is that the XRS pulls more (obviously) the higher you rev it, where the tC seems to loose its steam before you hit redline. And, of course, driving around, reving that motor to 8200rpms never gets old.
Sure you could rev the tC motor to 8200rpms. ONCE.

my buddy has a 03 XRS, he walks me everytime we race, no matter how fast or slow we go from. my car is stock and he has a trial header, trd exhaust, intake, and i know im forgetting something else. XRS's are no joke. i used to smoke him with my srt-4 though HARDOCRE. hahah

The XRS is teh shiznit! I like what the Corrolla XRS has under the hood, but if the model were to look more like the tC and is a coupe, I would have liked it a lot more. The XRS is a pretty powerful little sedan.

The XRS is something I was looking at...but they are hard to find...got to get one shipped into the dealer...if lucky. The interior is nice...well price...BUT!!!!!

tC is........17,000
BUT...there is a package you have to get with the XRS....for 2,500 which ____ed me off....thats 2500 you shouldnt have to spend...the XRS also has a turbo kit for it...on turb-kits.com. Nice...a pic or two.
XRS bone stock is about 20,500 vs 17,300...then taxes...if ur lookin for money...tC is more worth it...looks...depends....but the tC is def more modable...i think the tC has it...
Oh!!!! a sweet ___ 8200 redline on the XRS...which is cool as ____! haha...

ok i will share my experiences with you, my old roomate had an xrs and we would race all the time. He had a TRD intake, short shifter, lowered, exhaust.
when i was stock i could not hang with him at all, the 300 lbs less really makes up for the lack of torque off the line.
with header intake and exhaust we were dead even. i would be half a car length ahead, he would hit lift and catch up, then i would shift up back into the torque range and pull ahead, then he would hit lift again and catch back up. Where the lift system really hurts in the xrs is when they shift they fall out of lift, not like a rsx-s which will stay in vtech once engauged.
when i put the supercharger on i spanked has ___! hahaha. but serioulsy wasnt even close with the supercharger
i hope that helps break things down for everyone

yea true...ever lb matters, weither weight or tq...matters,haha.
but what it comes down to...is its looks...i like the tc more...coupe hatch...LOVE THEM. more modable...its all good, both are good cars...sick of 4 door family cars,haha.
