It is sad, now in another thread he said he is buying a strut bar. Sorry he ripped you off, hard to tell who you can trust on here sometimes.

Do you have a tracking number? If you do contest the claim, and send the info to Paypal. As soon as they see the delivery confirmation they'll close the claim and lift the hold on your funds.

If it's across state lines, I think it's a felony.

Had this same thing happen to me before. Paypal will take the buyers side, sorry to say. Police probably wont do anything neither. You pretty much just got your property stolen. I take pictures of the item im selling and keep all messages and all paperwork.

If your paypal is funded via credit card, which it should be, they can sometimes help, although its usually on the buyers end not the sellers.
How did you pay for the shipping/delivery confirmation? I'm sure the USPS or whatever company you used can figure out based on the time of day the date and the addresses that you shipped from and to, the tracking number. I high doubt any reputable shipping company would "delete" that information right away. I have USPS numbers months old that still show information. If the people at the counter say they can't help you its probably because they are too lazy to take the time to think about what you need and get the information for you.

Probably a long shot since you said you got rid of everything and I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this or not. I'm just trying to help and shoot idea.

I never empty out my emails, even the ones I delete. Ever since I got my gmail account I never had to...just trowing it out there...
