Another question arised. I'm wondering about stock housings. I don't want to get new headlights because I like the OEM ones. How will the HIDs perform in the stock housings? Will there be lots of glare? Will I just be able to adjust the cut off just like halogens? Will there be a distinct cut off with minimal glare? Sorry for all the questions. I just like to be sure about everything before I get into something.

You shouldn't have issue as long as you're between 4300K and 8000K. 4300 and 6000 should be totally fine, 8000K might attract some attention.

In the Texas area people don't seem to get any problems with 4300k-8000k. At 10000k they might give you a little hassle if you are already pulled over

Has anyone mounted these in an xA? I was looking under the hood and I was looking around for areas where I would mount the balasts is I got these. I found a nice spot on the passenger side, but anyone have experience with this and know where the balasts could be mounted?

Okay this is a really out there kind of question. I had a friend who bought HIDs a long time ago and then everything just went wrong for him. His bulb just died and so did his alternator. Anyone heard of this happening and know how or why it would happen? Would there be any chance of this happening with this kit? I really want to do thorough research before I buy it, because I don't want that kind of stuff happening to me and having to worry about bigger issues. Sorry for the lame questions guys. I seriously want real answers on what would cause that and if it is possible or not and the likeliness because I'm basically set on this kit. (Please don't try just "sell" it to me because it's basically sold. I just want solid facts.) please and thank youuuuu

Hey operatic , thanks for the kit , way fast shipping too. I put the HID's on my 98 grand am GT since I'm waiting for my TC still and they look sweet. I'm thinking of ordering another set for the TC so I can leave them on my GT. Probably 6k this time. You still have any?

The kit we sell runs off the battery vs. a straight connector the reason for this is hids run at 35w vs. 50w for a normal halogen but when you first turn them on they consume about 65-70w during startup, the first thing your buddy should have seen is a melted factory wiring harness if not the alternator had nothing to do with the bulb burning out, it was just pure timing issues. Another solid fact is that of the 7000+ kits I sold last year I did not have anyone with problems of this type. Let me know if you have any other questions.

If his alternator died it could be a few things: When he connected the new HIDs he never found a proper ground.....this would make the alternator work harder while trying to charge the battery b/c the battery would continually "show" a lower amperage.

It could also be that the alternator was bad to start with and he ALSO had a bad ground. Same thing would happen and the alternator would just work harder than it should of had to.

The bulbs blowing may have been b/c it wasn't a quality kit or when he installed them, he may have cracked the glass a bit. Who knows.........

I've had mine for 4 months with about 70-75% night driving (for at leats 4 hours each day). I have had no problem and the kit is definately a quality kit. All wires are loomed and firmly planted into the connections. Bulbs have splash seal for custom applications but I just kept mine on the pushed it firmly against the back of the bulb. The relay comes pre-assembled and all the work is done for you other than pluging it in.

I would highly recommend Operatic's kit.
