Default timing chain or belt?

Hi:
I am gonna buy a pre-owned sc430, so wanna find out if the engine run by timing chain or belt? they told me that toyota only use time chain on the cars after year 2000, anyone can give me some ideas? if the car is 2002 with 50k miles, any major work on the way? please let me know

Thanks

Sorry for the delay, I didn't notice this topic! It is a timing belt. How is the SC430 search coming?
