Default 95K ......what do I need to have done

I have 95K miles on my 06 TC. It's been mostly highway miles. All I have gotten done so far has been change the oil/oil filter, changed the air filter, and rotated tires. The maintenance book says to inspect things, but not actually do anything.

I called the dealer and they said I should do 100K mile maintenance and that a tune up would cost $365. What do they do beside change spark plugs?

At this point, what do I need to have done? I figure the tune up (change spark plugs etc.) was necessary and I would get the brake pads checked and replaced if need be.

Would it be a better idea just to take it to a local trusted dealer for this work or the dealer?

It's all in the owners manual.

The maintenance manual that I have only goes up to 125K miles and doesn't say to replace spark plugs. Only at 30K miles for the XA and XB. I imagine that you have to change them at one point.

If the only thing you've done was oil/air/tires, expect new brakes and belts soon.

The car comes with good spark plugs, which are usually good for 100k miles. Toyota recommends changing them every 30k miles, which is too often. They just do it for some more money and to cover their butts. You can change them yourself and save a good $100, only takes 15 mins to do.

The Scions with the long lasting iridium plugs state in the manual they are good for 100K... Prior to (2007 ?) they used standard plugs that NEED changed every 30K. Make sure you are following your manual. They don't lie!

Also, spark plugs are extremely easy to do. Buy the iridium OE plugs online for $60-70, install them yourself and won't have to touch them for a good 75-100K!
