Amsoil
so while working for walmart as a tire and lube tech we had a customer come in and tell me and a buddy all about this amsoil. how you only have to change the oil and filter once per year. that if ur engine fails because of oil related problems amsoil will replace the engine free. amsoil not only last long but also helps boost fuel efficiency. my question is has anyone in this thread have any knowledge of it at all?

amsoil is a good performance oilk. as for the whole year thing. mobil 1 extended coverage (full synthetic 15k miles) is the same thing. i change my oil/oil filter every 10k miles and have never had a problem.

and you base that opinion on?
I have used for many years on all types of applications from super high hp motors to economy cars with superior results and extended drain intervals and have had UOA's to verify my beliefs.......now tell me again why you would not trust it?

Mobil developed thier extended products to attempt to compete... I have many 25,000 mile oil changes with Amsoil on cars that were across a broad range performance levels

It's vver priced (although it is a really good oil) and it's hard to get. I'll stick with the 5 quart jub of Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 filter when it goes on sale for 34.99 at Auto Zone.

It's based out of Wisconsin....
Living in Wisconsin you would think tons of parts stores will carry it?
Nope. Only one store in my 90,000+ city has it. It's on the northside of the city way out of my way.
So I use Royal Purple for that reason. Can get it at Auto Zone, Advance Auto, Pepboys, O'Relly. Being over high mileage using 5w-30. Changing oil @ 5k still; the oil is light brown color and never clumped like Mobil 1 those two times I used it.

disagree here when you become a preferred customer and figure out the savings with extended intervals it is actually cheaper and is still the best oil

so how often do you go through oil change intervals when using amsoil?? i wouldn't like to go a whole year without an oil change. do any of you that go a while before changing the oil again have loss of oil or have to top off the oil level??

I honestly will never go above 10K on an OIC. On my next oil change the xD will probably end up with some Mobil 1 or if I'm feeling richy then maybe some Royal Purple. No way I would dump something expensive like Redline in an echo box engine.

I did a UOA from Blackstone labs a few times and the oil was fine.
hell my TDI is factory recommended in Europe to go 30,000 miles and here in the US 10,000 due to paranoia.

BTW, what exactly does one need to do to become an Amsoil "preferred customer"?
