Default Anyone do quick hose downs?

I washed my car during the weekend and in the start of the week, it got super windy down here with dust flying everywhere. My car stays outside and with the harsh winds and dust with some rain, lets just say, the car is filthy now. I'm thinking of instead of giving it a full wash AGAIN (i'm lazy and don't have time), to just hose it down and driving it for a while to let the water rinse from the car. Anyone else do this for a quickie? Or have any other methods other than dusting or doing a full wash to get the car somewhat clean? Thanks!

Nope. Carwash, five minutes in the bay, 15 minutes with the chamois and I'm done.

yea, a straight up wash takes only a few mins...

for me it starts to take awhile when I break out the clay, wash, vacuum, etc..

Haha, oh ya. I know exactly what you're talking about with the brown dirty spots. My car was drenched with them and the roof looked like a dirt road. I gave it another good wash today and all is good again but those damn winds better not come again, or imma....

Driving it dry won't do much but provide a wet surface for all the dirt flying at you at 60mph to adhere to thus rendering your quickie a suckie! LMFAO! Really meant no pun there....but hey I'll take it.

Yeah just spend 20 like the Cap'n said and your tc will thank you!

It can be a bad thing to do - esp if your paint is dark.
Salts in tap/hose water, combined with the ____e in the dust can leave water spots on your paint that are damn near impossible to get off.
Either wash it, or leave it.

MCAD

Mr. Clean Auto Dry.

I keep one around for quick rinse jobs. Mainly between the random rain storms in So Cal.

I also have a California Car Duster... If it's just dust.

I need to get me one of those California car dusters. Do they really work better the dirtier they get?

To a point.... After a while (I feel) it does need to be replaced. Usually after you start using it on "dirt" as opposed to "dust"

My dad still uses the old one I replaced from like 6 years ago. He says it works fine.

I have had 2 for a long time and feel they work wonders especially here in the central valley where it is dusty as heck.

detail spray is great for inbetween washes to get rain spots and dust off.

The California Duster does work well for light dust and can be washed. When using the CD, let the mop do the work. Just let the fibers lightly touch the car's surface. If used incorrectly, it can cause light scratches.
