arrghh!! please help
ok i know this has been said all over the place.. last nite i installed the K&N Typhoon Intake, and after driving around for a bit.. about an hour ago (2:30 PST) my VCS. Trac Off, and Check Engine light all came on.. the reason im posting this.. is im curious if the intake voids warranty or anything like that.. kinda afraid to take it to a dealership to find out..
anyone know any methods of fixing this problem themselves? other then putting the stock box on and taking it to the dealer .. got problems with the stock box (had to do some modifications to get something off of it..)
im new to driving imports.. or even a new vehicle at that.. so im in the learning stage..
i have basic mechanical background however.

guess since this issue has been longed expressed was the reason i got answers.. so i did some research and come up with this conclusion..
i took my car to autozone to get the code its the same as everyone else P0171.. which points to the Oxygen Sensor
detects a lean condition (to much oxygen).
K&N's filters are all pre-oiled.. so what happens is the oil from the filter gets stuck up on the MAF sensor making it dirty and giving it a bad reading.. thats why when you take the sensor out and clean it, it runs good for a while then the code comes back on.. meaning that the oil got sucked up back onto it.. so its never ending unless you have a non-oiled filter..
so now im wondering if anyone sells non-oiled cone filters.. and if so..where can i get one..

your ecu was used to reading a certain amount of air... now with the cooler air it threw the code,
reset the ecu by taking off the battery terminal and put it back on after 5 minutes.
when you reset it, it will relearn the "normal" amount of air it should see. and will only throw the code again if it goes +-a certain % from the new readings...
good luck

well ive been ignoring it.. cause i dont have time to fix it.. and all of a sudden this evening.. the all the lights went away.. does that mean the computer learn to deal with it? oh well.. atleast i dont have to worry.. (i think)
