bg 44k?? or seafoam?
ok so i've been looking up posts and with the seafoam i read that you gotta pour 1/3 into this.. a 1/3 into that.. and then a 1/3 into ur gas tank.. but said something bout if you have a CAI to put it down something else.. seems like a pain...
and i read that 44k.. u just put it in your tank when your almost empty*gas lite is on* and then fill up with gas... and then when it goes low again to change oil??(and i gotta change my oil anyway)
seems easy... and seems like toyota dealers do it..
my tc has 69,000 miles on it.. and have never added any cleaner in it.. just use synthetic oil...

I seen this video of a BMW using the seafoam. After he sucked it into his intake through the brake vacuum line he got multiple misfires in all but one cylinder. I would stay away from the stuff. BG44K looks easier to use all around.

Seafoam works great, you can use as a gas additive alone if you want or you can do the "suck it into the brake vacuum line" deal. Your car will run like crap and blow a bunch of white smoke if you do that, for about five minutes, then it will smooth right out and run like new, seriously good stuff in my book.

as long as you know what the hell you're doing, seafoam will work wonders. But like you mentioned yourself, you need to be careful with a CAI so just read up on how to do it correctly

Ok, I am sorry for potentially thread jacking this but...
I was buying into the Seafoam thing and I decided that since I just got my 67 Impala running after sitting for several years I should clean it all out. So I did everything it said to on the can. The gas I have is ancient, possibly 10 years old, but it showed no signs of making the engine run rough before adding the Seafoam and I notice nothing after. I poured it in the carburetor and saw no measurable smoke after following the directions.
My main concern is that after hours of searching I can't get a straight answer on what to do about the oil. I noticed a leak coming from the drain plug and assumed it was oil seeping out around the old gasket. I put my finger in it and it is clear and has no real smell. I suppose it is possible that it is the way fresh Mobile1 looks, but it seems strange that it had no smell.
So, what's the deal? I have seen that you are supposed to drain the oil after adding the Seafoam - as in to put it in dirty oil - after running the engine for 5 minutes. Also, do a complete oil change and add it (which is what I did). And then I saw that you should drive it: 10, 25, 100, 250, 1000 miles. I also understand some people use it as an additive and put it in at every oil change and run it the whole cycle.
Which is it?
And if you have an answer, please site an official source. As you can see, I have plenty of second-hand info.
After visiting the Seafoam web site and not seeing anything about it, and not seeing anything on the can, this will be the last time I use it in any of my cars. I should have researched it first, then I wouldn't have used it.
