Default bird crap

over the last 2 weeks it has averaged that a new thing of bird crap has gotten on my car 1.2 times per day (14 days --17 bird craps) Anyways... i've been using like a sponge type thing to get it off....but from friends i hear clay bar works good for such situations. They dont take too good care of their cars so i rarely listen to what they say.
what do yo guys things about clay bars...or do you recommend anything else?

Never heard of clay bars. How about regular soap and water? Bird crap has an extremely high acidic content, so something in the opposite pH level, basic, like regular soap, should counteract the acidic effects of bird crap.

Claybars are the shizzle..... just make sure to wax after you use it.

Yeah I agree that using a clay bar every time a bird craps on your car is a bit much. It can discolor your paint so I usually use a detail spray and wipe it off. If you wax regularly it should come off pretty easy. Oh and there are different grades of clay bars and if you have a dark colored car stick with the fine grade.

i hate bird crap. i have the worst luck with them. they seem to target my car right after i washed it. i just use a damp cloth to wipe if off asap.

on a side note, my sisters old apartments had this one spot that no one ever parks in. one my cousins that drove down from philly, had to find out the hard way. he parked in that spot because, he thought it was a "good" spot. boy, was he mistaken. he woke up the very next morning and found close to 50-60 bird crap spots on his car. it seems that the birds hang out on the power lines right about that very spot. i guess thats why no one ever parks there

you just need to wipe it off with a wet cloth. clay bar is only for removing contaminents in the paint itself. leaving bird poop on the car can ruin and take off the paint if left on too long.

I use a product called Slick Stuff by The Wax Shop. This stuff is awesome, works great on removing bugs, dirt, dust, grease and even the bird poo.Just spray it on and wipe with a soft cloth. It doesn't leave a haze or anything.I carry a bottle in the xB for when needed. :D

you hit it right on the head - not to mention clay being kinda hard to work with, and you need a bit of elbow grease. Wait till you see our clay bar in 2005 - you wont need to dedicate a whole day to clay your car

Read a site a while back from a guy in california that runs a high end car detailing shop. he actually has cars flown in to his shop for work. They use 0 <- ype that right 0 soap or solutions when they wash - only hot hot pure h2o. Now on to the issue at hand his recomendation for when you cant get the crap off quickly is to keep a small bottle of seltzer water in your car. When you get a poop, get most of the material off the paint then pour the seltzer water on it to nutralize the acid in the poop. This is merely a stop gap measure but it buys you time to get to a car wash or home to get the rest of the debris off the car.

As for this guys legitimacy, the company I worked for a few years ago was owned by a very wealthy man. He was a major league car collector and when I mentioned this guys methods thinking just water was insane, he was like oh you mean [insert the guys name here cause I cant remember it]. He new the guy by name and sends several of his collection to him once a year for a complete detail!! That would be from seattle to cali by the way so I belive in the legitimacy of this. I will dig up the site if I can find it again and post. It has great car care tips from a true purist.
