It doesn't happen every time I drive, but occasionally. Could this be caused by something different from the rattle sounds coming from the circular air vents or is there also some sort of bolt that needs a felt piece or further adjusting?
Thanks,

I fixed on of my rattles last week end.
The springs that hold the "easy bake oven" door closed makes contact with the plastic on the center console.
I put adhesive felt on the plastic and it stopped.
to check for this, you can open the door and see if the rattle stops

My Xb is manual shift--I thought the buzzing around the speedometer was inherent to reving up through the gears. If you put your finger between the speedometer face glass (plastic?) and the plastic surround, the buzzing stops. Guess it just needs some rubber or foam stuffed in that gap.

I've taken my car in twice to the dealer already about these noises, both times with the rattles TSB in hand (thanks ScionBandit). They did a few things including repairing the ticking noise from the cowl louver and supposedly putting felt pieces within the register assemblies inside, but the sound is still there.
What I'm hearing is a buzzing sound around the center dash where the stereo is. If I bang my hand on the top and along the sides of the center dash going down, I will hear something that sounds like a loose screw (although, I was told by the service technicians that there are virtually no screws being used in the dash and supposedly they added the felt pieces to the register assemblies) and the sound will actually travel to wherever I bang my hand.
Anyhow, this specific problem doesn't happen all of the time but enough to be annoying.
I wonder if the sound is being caused by the plastic parts expanding and contracting with changes in temperature and then rubbing against each other while the car is moving or when the stereo is blasting, causing vibrations?
Has anyone has this problem? If so, any fixes?
Thanks,

The buzzing/rattling comes from the speedo plate, sometimes it twists a little bit after a rough road and rattles...just grab it and twist to one side and it's good as new I'm getting a lovely vibe from the upper door panels in the front though, the window sill part where the lock is located. Only when the bass is playing. Easy, but non-fun solution is turn the bass down....but what's the point of a sub with it down? How hard is it to get dynomat or a similar material inside the door/window sill?

Hi guys,
I just had my 1st 3,000 mile oil change.
While, I was there I had them address my center dash rattle. According to the service people at the Carson Scion, it was the "fuse box cover." They just tightened it or something like that.
Hope this helps!

I had buzzing noise which I thought was coming from the dash. I turned out to be the cruise control. It occured on rough roads and under acceleration at about 3200 to 3500 rpm. It took me two weeks to figure this out, so if you have the dealer installed cruise control option and can't pinpoint the location try checking that. Specifically it was the buttons on the top and bottom for set/coast and accelerate/reset.

easy fix people
its amazing how many people here just take their scion to the dealer for a rattle. the buzzing from the dash is the clear plastic over the speedometer. i just put a few drops of superglue where it is unoticeable and tada. no more rattle.

Hey all, like everyone else here I HATE rattles. I've been getting the odo rattle for some time now. I fixed it by taking off the cover and putting a ring of rubber window insulation around the glass cover of the pod. After putting the odo cover back on, Presto, no more rattles.
The doors! AH! crank up the bass and you're in rattle hell. Haven't solveld that one yet.
