Excuse my ignorance, but what is "TSB"? I've seen them in that one sticky, but have no idea what the codes mean. I also have the dash rattle. Going to see if it's the odometer cover by putting pressure on it tomm. while driving. Damn thing drives me crazy

ULTIMATE FIX for the speedo rattle. After I installed the AC Indiglo gauge overlay I permanently fixed the rattle by surrounding the entire unit with a strip of electical tape(clear cover off). THEN snap on the clear cover and the problem's solved, period. The first attempt at adding window insultation on top of the clear cover and under the black casing worked until the insulation compressed in the summer heat.

How do we remove the gauge cluster plastic covering? The rattle we all speak of in the "center of the dash or behind steering wheel" is indeed the plastic covering over the gauges. When I touch the plastic it stops, but once I let go it's back. It depends on the road condition as to when it rattles.

I want to fix this once and for all. I don't want to just shove something in there. I want to do it right and remove the plastic piece and line it completely.

Thanks for any help to remove this plastic piece

I had the same buzzing noise from my speedometer area, it would go away when i pressed on the clear plastic that covered the speedo, and it would be the worst when i accelerated and the engine was at 3000-to 4000 rpm, the dealer fixed it by putting some foam weatherstrip inside the cluster, the buzzing is now gone.

There's one plastic screw in the center of the rectangular section up top. Remove that then pull down and toward you and the cover pops right off. Next remove the 3 screws that hold in the unit. Gently pull the unit out and you'll see 3 clear tabs that stem from the clear plastic cover. Push those in and remove the clear cover. Next, take some black electrical tape and put a thin strip around the cluster where the clear plastic cover will rest on the gauge cluster. Put everyhting back together and poof, no more rattles. It'll take about 15 min tops.

I'm taking my xB into the local stealership tomorrow for the gauge cluster rattle, rocking driver seat, and steering wheel alignment issue.

TSB # for gauge cluster rattle, ANYONE??

Thanks!

Stealership just called and said the speedo rattle is fixed along with the steering wheel alignement.

How is the dealer suppose to fix teh rattle? I know there are numerous ways to fix the rattle, but how does the TSB state to fix it?
