changing the oil every 3000 miles is a market scam.

Read your manual, follow your onboard computer... it will tell you when you should, SHOULD change your oil.

Synthetic is great and and todays engines are happier running with it.

As above, new BMW's have the "every 10-15k" scheduled oil changes. MINI recommends every 10K.

If the manufacturer is recommending this large milage span between changes... makes you think.

jiffy Lube and the sort are pumping the "every 3k" HARD. Because most of the auto owning public is ignorant. They beileive the advertisements and false warnings.

If you do change every 3k, good for you. It'd be like changing a lightbulb every week, burnt out or not.

I myself prefer changing my oil every 3000 mile with mobil synthetic. Though it does say 5000 in the manual. I just like the security i have clean oil in there. But that's just my opinion.

you should take a sample of the oil when you an oil change at 3000 and then do a oil change 5000 and i guarantee that you will not see a difference in the oil. it has been tested 3-4 times that i know of in car magazines. the difference was scene at intervals after 7500 miles.

I just like knowing i have clean oil in my engine.
In a modified engine you can see the difference.
I know in my turbo sol it's dirty.
or maybe the engine is dirty period ahhaha.
but it's just my opinion and i just like to keep the engine clean the best i can.
