Mobil 1 is my choice of oil. And I'll usually pair it with a Mobil 1 filter.

It's pretty easy really...

One big tip is that when you take off the drain plug, make sure the oil fill cap and dipstick are both secure. That way it won't pour out all over you too fast. Then when you have the plug out and out of the way, unscrew the cap to let the rest drain.

Once that's done draining, remove your filter slowly (it'll start draining as you unscrew it)...

Make sure you have all the correct tools and supplies before starting...have a SL DIY on hand just for reference.

I use M1 and OEM filter...

I would recommend it for the first time, some have used a leather belt as an alternative.

Hand tighten the new oil filter on

ROYAL PURPLE is good for just your everyday driver. Its a tad bit more expensive than the normal synthetic, but well worth it. Yea did I mention synthetic..... If you car about your car, youll put synthetic in it. Royal Purple isnt the easiest to find, but if you have an Advanced Auto Parts store nearby, they sell it. If you wanna get serious, Eneos is the best stuff for high performance cars because it doesnt breakdown at extremly higher temps. Its like $7-$8/quart, but if thats what you like to spend your money on.... like me then you think its worth it.

With the filter.... exactly 4 quarts. Pretty easy to remember, 4 banger, 4 quarts.

For the filter, Fram tough guard is good. size = 4967

synthetic motor oil is like 5 times better for your valves and seals compared to regular oil. so.... if you care about what kinds of fluids / maintenace you are doing on our car.... then youll spend the extra 7-8 bucks an oil change and get synthetic

Syn. vs. Conventional is pretty much opinion anymore though...You have the graphs, charts, oil analysis, mainstream media, etc. claiming this and that...Ads like Castrol showing two mustangs going at it then watching one blow up b/c they used coventional...?
Changing conv. oil at the right intervals will give your engine no problems at all. Most people use syn. like me to 'play it safe' or they would rather go longer intervals without changing the oil.

Fram makes the worst filters ever-- they still use cardboard backplates on the filter element. The $1.99 SuperTech filters from Wal Mart protect better. I find the Purolator Pure One filters to be the best mix of price and performance. If you're gonna opt for a Mobil One, the K&N Gold is the exact same filter with a stamped nut on the end so you can get the filter off the car with a basic crescent wrench.
