Check Engine Light on
Ok, I have installed a Stillen cat back, a DC header, and a K&N intake. The box is running fine, but two days after installing the intake, I got a check engine light. Brought it to my boy at the toyota dealership and the code was for "system too lean". Has anyone else got this? Is it really running too lean, or is it something on the mass air flow because it was taken out and reinstalled? I think I am just going to get a fuel regulator and bump the fuel up a little to be sure. My gauges havent come in yet, so I havent got the air/fuel one hooked up to know for sure. But anyways, just wondering....

I think a few people have had the K&N filter give them check engine light problems... Too much air flow? If so, make a constrictor pipe that fits where the MAF censor is. That should constrict the amount of air going throw at the MAF point. If you don't want to tinker with that, get a different intake... K&N has said to just take the intake off (which also means you're out 150 bucks...) Use the search box to look for more info...

you try resetting your ecu? unplug the ground from the battery for...1-5 minutes should do the drink...it'll let the ecu remap...

And the dealer didnt void the warranty :D They probably jot down all your mods from their "inspection." You may have to go to another dealer next time.

MAF sensors are very touchy.
If oil has gotten on the sensor,it is safe to use NON Chlorinated
brake cleaner and give it a few shots to clean it off.
Not while the engine is running of course.
Should cure it.If that is what the problem is.
The MAF's are designed to have a cetain diameter intake tube.
If that is comprimised,the MAF is reading airflow incorrectly and will trip the CEL.
A high flow filter properly oiled will not trip a light.If there was to much oil on it,it can get oil on the MAF and trip the light.My other car gave me this problem with a short ram intake.Couple shots with the cleaner worked for me.
Make sure it is NON Chlorinated!Yes it will say on the can!

they shouldn't void your warranty since an aftermarket intake is offered thru toyota dealers itself
this is a common problem in toyotas. usually with the 3.4L 4runners and 7th gen celicas and i guess will see a trend with the xa/xb because of the intake
you can just clean the sensor with brake cleaner thuroughly its usually caused by crap getting into it
