My dealership clayed my xB for me. The results were AMAZING!!!! I will do it to my wifes car this weekend, and will probably be doing mine again before I put the winter wax on.

then... wash again before wax, or can you go straight to wax? Is the car "clean" after the clay? I know you spray the detailer on then rub it with the bar and then wipe it off, but do you need to wash it again? I sure hope not. I live in an apartment and we can't wash cars there, so every time I have to go somewhere else is a fairly large PITA.
i don't wash afterwards, but i do use a cleaner wax after a clay bar. after that i follow up with a polish then the wax.

Yo, I wonder if the clay from the art supply store would work. Or silly putty?

Heh, you can try...but I don't think they are the same... Silly putty would probably leave an oily residue... Art clay may work...but that, too, may leave an oily residue...

Heh, so after reading all this the other night I decided to give it a try today. I went and bought the Mother's kit, washed, clayed, and waxed my xB, and all I can say is WOW! It was retardedly easy to use and the shine is the dog's bollocks. You do have to invest some serious time to do the whole car, but I'm impressed.
