Default Cleaning the dashboard.

What is the recommended method for cleaning the dash?
I tried a wet rag, but it seems to miss the stuff in the little divots...

Also, what's the best way to clean the interior windshield without jamming your fingers into a crevice?

Hollaback.

I have been using an Armor-All Protectant Gel for the dash with a cotton rag. This seems work great, gets in all those little holes.

As for the windows my cleaner of choice is Stoners Invisibel Glass with Newspaper. As for jamming fingers I don't have a solution.

Rubber spatula with towel wrapped over it. . . or your choice of cleaning rag. . . I use microfiber towels followed by cotton rag.

for dash of course the good ol armor all protectant is the weapon of choice

now with windows i use regular car wax. most window cleaners contain ammonia and if the windows are tinted can damage the film. wax works best on any smooth surface

You mean that you are waxing the inside of the windows? Or did I just read that wrong?

some people wax the outside of their windows works like rain x. . . never heard of the inside. But then again I do things that most don't understand. I'm pretty sure there's a good reason for waxing the inside of the windows I just don't know what.

ok the advantage of waxing the insides is that it doesnt tamper with the tint of you have tinted windows. most window cleaners contain ammonia which eats away that the film. wax is ammonia free so it gives the inside of your windows clean and a smooth layer of protection from w/e

^^ there you go, there's the explaination. I just use stoners or a window cleaner I know that doesn't have ammonia in it. Although with all the rock chips my xB has on the windshield I might as well wax it and hope the chips go away. . .ha ha ha ha

Be careful about waxing the outside, some waxes will leave a streak where the wipers stop un the up stroke....I have found carnuba to be the worst....

I might have to try the inside.. does it help with keeping the windows from fogging up?

Do not use Armor All, it streaks the dash, microfiber towels work great, but use it with some Black Magic.

the armor all cleaning wipes work very well, but do not use them in direct sunlight. . . A simple solution of plenty of water and a drop of soap/dish washing soap applied to the window can keep the windows from fogging. but if not mixed in the right amoount can cause streaks. I used to use rainx antifog but if you smoke it will cause you to have to reapply frequently.

My favorite dash Cleaner HAS to be Meguires NXT Interior Detailing spray. It gets into all the little crevices, leaves a nice, non-gooey shine for days, as well as repels dust and adds UV protection. Definitly try a bottle, you can use on on anything, even tires!

I use a microfiber rag to clean both the dash and windows. I've never used the wax inside but I may try. I also use a soft paint brush with the vacuum.

Regarding the ArmorAll, I would never use it on the dash. If you research it you will find that the formula is designed so it sticks and stays longer for that "shinny look". The only way they can do that is to have the polymer molecules in the Armor All adhere to the plastic molecules via a chemical bond of polymers. Up that point everything looks nice and shinny, Right??

Well like somebody mentioned above. this should not be done in the sunlight and the treated surface should not be exposed to direct sunlight heat at any moment. Some plastics take it but most others don't.

So Nate, this is what happens, both molecule sets expand due to heat, but the Armor All molecules side expands more than the plastic. Since it has a strong bond or grip on the plastic it will make the plastic expand more than what it can, and the result... the plastic molecule breaks apart and you will find a nice crack with time.

Food for thought

Take car of that sweet ride, it is looking awesome

just for everyone's information I don't use the armor all polish I use the cleaner, the formulation is a bit different leaves no residue and I have been using it since I got my xB 2 years ago. So far no damage in fact my exgirlfriends purse and shoes have done more damage to the ceter console then anything else. . .ha ha ha

Thank you for the explaination of what can happen... I have heard AA might cause damage, but never knew how....

ArmorAll UV protectant wipes/interior wipes
then use California brush to clean off anything left on dash
use brush as needed to get any dust off
