i got some 20" x 40" microfiber cloths off ebay for about $4 each. they are pretty sweet, but it'll take at least 4 of them to dry off the whole car. i need waffle weave microfibers for that

For drying the car I use the Costco towels and it only takes me like 3 or 4 (including the wheels and everything) because i use the water blade thing first. I know some people are afraid of it but I've never had any problems - just make sure it's clean and so is your car.

If you keep wringing it out (unless you are somewhere a lot hotter and sunnier than Seattle), you will definitely get most of the water off, but over time, your towels pick up grit and stuff anyway, so I like switching to a certain extent. With wringing it out, I don't think I can get the car 100% dry - they just don't absorb that good.

Thats one way to do it, but I try and use a bunch of them and keep them pretty clean, then just wash them afterwards - no fabric softener. They clean up pretty well and I've probably washed them all like 5 or 6 times and they're getting just a little bit frayed now. Probably last another 6 washes then I'll trash 'em. Don't want to waste towels if i don't have to.

Are you talking about the yellow costco microfiber towels? If so, see my post right above yours.
