I doubt it - I bet they've been there for a while and you're just seeing them. Windshields get pitted by all the crap that blows against them, plus the wipers don't help. There are glass polishes that with a good amount of work can probably clean things up a little. I've been meaning to try them for a while since the polish for clear plastic works so good on the light housings. Take a look at www.autopia.org - that's a site for serious car detailing info. They have a downloadable series of documents about cleaning your car and in it they recommend Autoglym glass polish, which they sell here: http://store.yahoo.com/autopia/ag-4325.html

Oh - in the description it says it won't take out scratches but it will remove grime, film, water spots, etc.

You'll need an electric polisher to get the job done effectively.

You can use a heavy cut paint cleaner from Meguiar's to get the job done. I've heard of people doing this with good results...

The instructions from Autopia says that the Autoglym doesn't need an electric polisher, but then again it says it won't take out scratches, so who knows.
