Engine cover?

I installed some breather filters on the car, and was wondering if the tc engine cover is actuallyt good for anything? or is it just there for looks? does it prevent heat soak or do anything remotly functional?

Keeps crap outta the plug area.
Looks better or not depending on your taste.
There's people painting them, and there's carbon fiber ones too.
