Default Engine Oil Revisited.... German Castrol..

Anyone use the stuff?

At Bobistheoilguy.com lots of makes/models swear by the stuff. They are oil freaks over there, and have their oil sent off to a laboratory to be tested after oil changes, and they say they get less engine wear (less bearing and various metal shavings in the oil) when they use this stuff.

It is ony 0-30... but they say it oils superior to 10.30 and 10.40 synthetics.

Only US distributor is Autozone. Here is what the stuff looks like,,, http://home.comcast.net/~dsmphotos/gc/gc.html

Bottles say made in Germany on it, and the oil is green.

10.30 is what is recomended by Toyota for our cars..... but 0.30 is actually thicker than 10.30w mobil 1 @ 100 degrees.... so no chance of blow by.... and its better on the engine at startup.

I just spent $100 at the local autozone to buy out their stock.... stuff is hard to come by

i dunno. i trust my

mobil 1 very very much. castrol is a great company and all but its jus to hard to switch.

and i also heard about some japanese oil being super good too. engine runs smoother, and performance can be felt.

ill get back to you guys about that

I avoid using "normal" Pennzoil on my vehicles. I used the stuff on my first two cars, and I noticed that Pennzoil tends to sludge up quite a bit. I turned to Mobil1 instead and Had great results since. Zero sludge, and never a failure of any engine components that depends on oil.
It's also nice to know that Mobil 1 is a "true" synthetic, which are known to have the best detergent qualities, shear resistance and wear inhibitors amoung all lubricants.. The Castrol Syntec is actually still some sore of semi synthetic, from what I have heard.

This oil is supposed to be VERY good.

Right now I'm using Amsoil and have been pleased, but I think I'm going to go to Autozone tomorrow and check this stuff out.

Wow, those guys on that oil page are super nutty about oil.

If they like it, it's probably pretty good.

If I didn't have several cases of Mobil 1 5w30 around, I'd
probably try it.

I'm stuck on FULL Synthetics as they have always treated
me well (Mobile 1). My SAAB had over 330,000 miles with
the original turbo when it was hit and totalled. I have a
feeling I could have gotten a lot more out of it!

I was very passionate about Valvoline's MAX-life Full Synthetic. I used it religiously on my 85 E30 and that car had over 250K. Always trust german engineering, id buy this stuff for sure, looks cool too. good find!
