Default free oil change or 5k maintenance

I made an appointment today to go in tomorrow for the free oil change and I'm just wondering if I should just take the free oil change or get the whole maintenance package since the person suggested I go with the whole 5k miles maintenance. The maintenance package will cost around 70 to 80 dollars and they will deduct the cost the oil change using one of the complimentary oil changes, so I'm wondering what extra work they will do and is it worth it to go with the whole maintenance. Thanks in advance.

Look at your manual for the "service" that is recommended, follow that.

Dealers are trying to make money, which is fine.. But if you do things yourself, you can save a bunch.

Start by learning how to change your own oil. The rest of that "5k maintenance" is pretty much visual checks of fluid levels, etc.

Thank you, nyr, for your reply.

I've looked at the manual already and I've noticed it is just a bunch of visual checks plus rotating the tires.

I do plan on doing my own oil changes, but since I got the 3 free oil changes that come with the car, I'm planning on taking advantage of those first.

i'm doing the same thing ur doing, getting my first 3 free oil changes done at the dealer and the rest is all me. i don't trust anyone working on my car. if i need help i go to my dad since he's been in the biz since the early 70s and the only other person is a personal friend of ours who owns a shop which is a last resort.

Question: How much does Toyota or other auto shops usually charge on average for a service such as tire rotation?

5k? Come now, the car is almost still new

All you need is an oil change and tire rotation. Just pay for a tire rotation... and check the fluids yourself.

Has the dealers changed over to 5W20 on the '06's like it says in the TSB? That's one reason I passed on them doing my oil changes, I didn't want get in an argument with them about it.
