at the gas pump... does YOURS click 99/100 times?

As a scion owner outside of Cali ... yes it happened to me too... I discovered if you set the lock on the nozzle 1/2 way .. aka 2nd bump outta 3 (usually) it won't click off. I figure if that's the worst thing I have to deal with.. I'm doin good

Yup, happened to me the first couple of times I filled it up, then I swiched stations and its been fine ever since (2200 mi). The first time it happend it kept clicking and clicking til the thing overflowed ...I was soooo FUELED w/anger (pun intended). The Shell's I go to now are cool.

out here in upstate ny all of the gas stations have removed the thing that let's the gas stay on w/o you holding it...it's a state law, it's been that way for a couple of years, so i'm used to standing there holding the pump. just a few more weeks and i'll rocking the first xb in rochester, ny. woo-hoo

hello,
anyone else find it scary that the one guy said he filled it with the engine running???? NEVER DO THAT!!! Its unlikely. but it could explode!
Also its not "a toyota thing" I worked at a dealership for a few yrs and my dad is a Master diag tech at a local dealership...they should not do that! My advise would be take it back to the dealer!!! Thats what the warranty is for fellas! There may be a TSB (technical service bullitin) (basically a problem toyota knows about, but doesnt want the public to know about so when u bring the vehicle in they just fix it) Kinda like a recall, but car compaanies only do recalls if it is a safety problem in most cases. If enough of you complain about it toyota will have to find a solution!!!
Just my 2 cents :D
by the way...my 1991 celica does it sometime, but not frequently and only at a specific pump at a specific station...not very where

Yeah, when Scion called me to check up on my new ride--
I told them about the gas clicking off all the time
I think it's maybe inadequate venting of the fill tube.
Oh yeah I'm from Wisconsin and have 6k on my xB and it did that from day 1

I was having this problem like crazy, and then someone posted here that you need to just hold it in a little for a few seconds until it gets going.....then pull the handle up the rest of the way and lock it.
This technique has worked great on my last 4 or 5 fill-ups. Give it a shot, let us know if it works for you too!
