Use Goo-Gone (citrus based cleaner) to get it off. Its safe on fabric and is water soluble so just about any carpet upholstry cleaner will remove it after you remove the gum. Check your local harware store.

try to take a piece of ice and rub it on the gum. when you get it cold and brittle enough it should come off easy.

sadly i did the same thing to mine the stuff i used was called GOOF-OFF same stuff though. just barely dab the stuff on to it with a rag don't rub or else you will have one huge f'n mess. after a little bit you should be able to pic it off then use some water on a rag to get the residue of the "GOO" product off. Hope it works out for ya!

Just a disclaimer....

Goof-Off and Goo-Gone are NOT the same product. Goo-Gone is non-toxic and is made from orange oil. Goof-Off is nothing more than paint thinner.
