No, your not holding a rev and slowly releasing the clutch. That is what I think you are thinking of.

I throw a rev...as though rev matching, and then let off the clutch. I am very knowledgable about cars, and I know that this is alot better on your clutch. Trust me.

You're still slipping the clutch. I think what you do is a short slip - that's good, that's what I do too. Obviously, I don't rev high and slowly release the clutch - that's just silly and for rice boys to do

Regardless, a clutch always has to slip in order to launch a car. That's the purpose of it, so that it is possible to slowly transfer torque to the drivetrain so that you have a gradual engagement and thus, no stall (the weight of the car doesn't suddenly transfer causing the revs to go down to fast, thus stall).

Yes, you can do a fast engagement. But regardless, it still has to slip, even if it is a very short slip.

I see what you're saying (I think)... you blip the throttle and then clutch out, correct? Yes, you could do this, but I personally don't think it makes a difference. At proper launching RPMs (below 1500, preferably 1200 and below), the torque is low enough to where there wouldn't really be a difference. Plus, I think you'd have quicker engagement (at lower RPMs) by doing a steady throttle approach rather than the blip approach.

Plus, I'd imagine that while the clutch is slipping, it'd pull down an "empty" rev (meaning, as is the case with a blip and not a constant application of throttle) pretty quickly and you'd make the RPMs go below idle, and cause the engine to struggle.

That is what I am talking about, just couldn't find the words for it!! haha! (by the way, thank you for not being mean. Alot of people on here are really mean when trying to explain something. I appreciate it.)

I only pulled an "empty" rev while learning different ways of driving stick. Luckily it wasn't on my car...it was on a fully built race car.....haha....

don't own a 5 speed... i drive an automagic...but ive taken a 5 speed for a spin... its fun... first time around before i actually stalled my friends tc tons and tons of times...learned how to drive stick in a miata at autox....raced the miata the same day...took my friends tc out again and unfortunately i still have the "riding the clutch syndrome" but im getting over it... practice makes perfect... ill eventually get a miata of my own to practice on and make my race car...but unforunately for now i dont have a manual to practice on of my own...

as you drive stick more and more...you'll get the hang of it... its great...i love it!

the way i would drive my stick if i had one *id be auto-crossing it*

Ya, I refused to get automatic....we had to look everywhere for the car I wanted, because I wanted a pretty base xB, stick, Shadow Mica....

yeah i wish i got a stick...but my parents were like you cant drive stick... but thats alright...at least i have an automagic for my lazy days and a daily driver... and ill eventually have a stick for my race car hopefully by the end of the year!

Love drivin my stick. Upgraded my clutch to the ACT Stage1 with a lightened flywheel as well. Makes a huge difference in clutch feel. I bought my xB used and the person who had it before me destroyed the clutch. I babied it for almost a year before I finally had enough and replaced it. Im gonna have to check out that forum posted on the first page. Seems very interesting!
