^^^ Wow that's nuts! Change your oil every 25K? People need to remember that you cannot judge how bad the oil is by just the color of the oil.

Has anyone done an oil analysis of the oil after 25k? I am just curious to see one compared to a 5k analysis etc...

i think i did 22k on my last amsoil change. im at about 21 on my current one.

the color of the oil changes very quickly, so oil life should almost never be based on the color. very misleading.

as for an analysis, i think im gonna get one, just to see the real result of using the oil that long.

I used to use Mobil1, not any more. It's still a good oil, but it's a group III and overpriced.
I then went to GC Castrol, and it's too hard to find now, so I switched to Royal Purple 5w20.

I always use a Toyota YZZF1 filter - get them at trdsparks.com in packs of 10.

Change it all every 4500 miles.

You might be interested in knowing that you can pickup full syn PP at Pep Boys for $1.99/qt. after rebate.

trdsparks is a grreat, low hassle way to get factory filters.

4500 mi OCI is fantastic!

^^ Heathen: I thought about going to PP but in the end, I had the "need" to try the Purple. So far, I really like the stuff, so we'll see what happens.
I was close, but maybe next change

Thanks for the tip. That's where I got the Purple, and I did have the PP in my hands...

As for the 4500 OCI, THAT took a long time to get over! I did a lot of research (and I see you there a lot) on BITOG and decided my 3k OCI was a waste.
I think I made the right decision on that too.

I've got 32k on my tC, so I've only got 3/10 oil filters left...have to place another order soon from sparks.

BITOG....thats why your name looks familiar...i think we have spoke in the past about BITOG. Bottom line is, anyone who spends as much time researching motor oil as I (or maybe even possibly yourself) is a nerd.

** adjusts pocket protector **

Glad you know about PP. I recently made the switch to a 0w30 (PITA finding that stuff around here) and all seems fantastic so far. Not a real MPG gain, but it does reduce start-up wear, so Im happy.

I never make it to 5K in 3 months, so I simply change following a time interval myself. Hard to justify $6/qt, hence my following in love with the PP (not to mention those wear numbers!!!).

Na Zdrowie!

Yep, but I got booted from BITOG because I kept getting into arguments with the US-Car crowd that bashes imports...
When I fought back, I was the one that got in trouble, so when one of the mod's emailed me, I called him a chicken-*hit and a hypocrite.
Banished for life! ;)

I was on the GC until it became too hard to find.
RP is everywhere, and I had to try it.

I've always spent a lot on oil/filters so that habit would be nearly impossible to break.

Agreed man.

Like all forums, this one especially, one must be able to seperate the wheat from the chaff. I too dislike the Domestic vs. Import clashes that happen in a lot of threads, even when they have nothing to do with the topic.

I have drastically cut back on posting there and now search out information, links, etc.

Amen.
I got all the info I needed, and I still go there once in a while - just can't post
I've realized that there IS good data there, but there's a lot of older guys rolling American iron and they have a jaded perspective.
It got to be too much for me.
If you wanna talk s*it, great, just make sure everyone's opinions are OK, not just certain folks.

Anyway...I think we've adjusted our pocket-protectors enough to know a little bit more than the average Joe in regards to oil and filters.

True that!

Hmmm...not being able to post.....sounds like I need to get myself banned from a few forums. My resolution was to drop my sh*t-talkin' on forums by 50%.

OEM oil filter 3.76
Drain plug washer .22
Mobil 1 5W~30 23.96

I cange the oil every 2000~3000 miles
depends on if we take the car on road trips to Reno/Lake tahoe etc etc

You should check your oil everytime you fill up at the gas station
but people are so lazy nowadays thats why we have check engine lights!

Every 3K for me with mostly city driving. Used to do it with Mobil 1, but I'm using Motul now. I'm gonna give their 0W-30 E-tech a try next.
