Default How is Penzoil Full Synthetic Oil?

I will be getting my 5,000 mile service done in the next few weeks and from the look of it (the sticker on my car), they use Penzoil oil. I plan to "upgrade" and pay a few bucks extra for the full synthetic oil and wonder if Penzoil is good synthetic oil? I tried to research but found little info.

I know alot of you say will do it yourself, but in the meantime I am not and plan to use up the free service's. Plus, I find my dealer to be the best place I have been to work on my car, anywhere. Extremely clean, professional, and excellent staff. I trust them to do all the work.

So, anybody use or have any information of Penzoil full syn?

the oil is called Pennzoil Platinum, and it's a great oil.
I usually run it very conservatively to only 4k miles, but that's my choice.
I know it can easily go 7500 miles if necessary.
I do my own changes, and buy it on sale (buy one, get one)

I also used this after previously using Mobil 1. I do 5k changes and thus far I love it. I also get it at the BOGO sales they have

Nice stash. I've seen some UOAs of the Pennzoil Platinum and in lots of engines it still looks good out to 7500-10000 miles. I just picked up 18 quarts (1.99/qt after rebate) and put in in box #2 a few weeks ago. So far, I've got nothing out of the ordinary to report; no ticks, rattles, or funny startup noises. I can say that as long as it keeps sounding good and being on sale I'll keep using it.

What's not a true synthetic? Are you saying the PP is a blend or that the base stock needs to be PAO (Group IV) as opposed to Group III to be considered a true synthetic?

Well I plan to use the two free dealer oil changes and wanted to know if its worth it to upgrade to the full synthetic? After those two I will do my own with Mobile 1.

I've got the 'bobistheoilguy.com' sickness and now I stash oil.

Yeah. That place breeds it I think. Mine is just starting out now; 14 quarts of PP (will probably pick up 12 more at the current Pep Boys sale tomorrow) and 12 bottles of CD2 Street Legal Oil boost that I got @ Big Lots for $1 a bottle. You probably know all about the zinc requirements for older engines; picked it up for my VW Beetle.
