I washed the car, only after a few days, it catches so much dust, its unbelievable. I just wiped across it with my finger, my finger turns black. Does this happen to anyone else? Cuz this also happens to my friends tc. Do tcs eat a lot of dust?? (literally)

 

All my previous vehicles gathered the same amount of dust and varied according to the time of year (pollen season) . I dont think the tC is really prone to getting dirtier then others LOL . There might be something local going on like (fires or dust storms) or something of that nature that might increase the number of particles in the air . I dont think you have anything to worry about though

 

did you also wax the car?

Heh, I was thinking the exact same thing. My tC seems to show dust much more quickly than my old Mustang and Jetta. I'm pretty sure why, too. The Mustang was white and the Jetta was silver. Dust is just a lot easier to spot on dark vehicles. What colors is yours? Mine's flint mica.

I own a black 02 camry, that color is a dust magnet, believe me. That's why I got a lighter color this time (Classic Silver Metallic) same amount of dust, but you can barely tell. Now the questions is how to avoid birds flying over my car....

 

A California duster is probably the best thing to get. Or, long ago when I rode, some folks used Lemon Pledge.

 

My concern is that it will scratch the crappy scion paint?!?

Actually i appreciate this thread. I may buy one of these ***** tomorrow. But i need someone to answer my question first.

 

where is the dust specifically being accumilated at (just wondering because the following might stray off-topic. i duno)? for example, on certain cars, dust accumilation happens worst on the rear bumper because of aerodynamic characteristics, and on other cars, there might be no dust there at all. ive noticed this on my es300. its low-frontal profile got the air to slip by all the way until it got to the back, where it created a lil vaccum effect that ultimately accumulated a thick a$$ dust layer around the rear bumper and taillights. the rest of the car was spotless, probably due to the great aerodynamics the car had (tested second to supra at that time- for toyotas).. so back to topic, maybe a little subtle diffusion of some sort (roof/trunk lip spoiler, front diffuser) might get the air around the car, in-turn getting dust (and bugs!) off your car where you need it.

I use one daily and have no problems with scratching my paint! When someone rubs up against my dusty car in a parking lot and scratches the **** out of it, that's a problem.

use a microfiber towel to take dust off, thats what i do.

 

Cal. Dust Buster is usually a 100% cotton mop head (not a kitchen mop!!) that is treated with a wax (usually Parafin). Its then attached to handle. It won't damage your paint. It gets better as it gets dirtier. Works great! Get one now!!

 

bout $20 at pepboys (if i remember correctly). not expensive considering it's a good between-washes fix.
