Default Jiffy Lube Oil Change

Hey all,

I went to the jiffy lube to get my oil changed ( 2700 Miles) on monday and i got a terriffic deal. $15 out the door with an oil change, and they included a free air freshener. If i have wanted to they would have flushed my radiator and changed my oil for $25!!! this is a terriffic deal, and the guy told me that this deal is going on at all southern cal jiffy lube's ( im not sure thats true) but anyways i would highky recommend them. It took about 1 hr and it was done!!!!! :D

nah, i got mine done at 3400... it just says 5,000 cause that's your service intervals... they do a 19 point check and lube and what not besides the oil... you can bring it there whenever you need your oil changed, they don't care, they're gonna have to do it sooner or later.

FYI, all 04' Toyotas and Scions have their radiators filled with a new super long-life antifreeze. It's a 50/50 mix and it's supposed to last 100,000 miles.

What kind of oil is Toyota using that could be worse than Pennzoil??? :?: :?: :?: This is the first I've heard of bad "Toyota oil", most shops carry a national brand in bulk...

When I used to work at a Jeep dealership, a customer came in that was missing a dipstick. She told us she had just gotten her oil changed at a jiffy/supr lube place. We called them and told them they better send someone down with her dipstick. 10 minutes later here comes the jip-me lube shop boy with a handful of dipsticks. The friggin' idiots did it more than once and they couldn't even tell which was hers... Our tech grabbed the right one and we just wondered about all those other cars out there ... You get what you pay for...

I'm guessing that two techs with equal experience and skills get offered a job EITHER at Toyota or Jiffy Lube, you're gonna find the most highly skilled ones changing oil...

I've learned, through a bunch of bad experiences, to always check my oil about a week after it's been changed---REGARDLESS of where I get it changed. I've found oil caps and/or dip sticks missing, and oil leaks around the oil filter or drain plug. I'd probably do this even if I changed the oil....because I know how absent-minded I am....

toyota oil is a lot better then pennzoil. toyotas run for a long time for a reason and that is because toyota has good products.

A week? I open the hood and check it right in the dealer's driveway! A friend had his oil changed at the same dealer and they put in a total of 1.5 quarts, just enough for the engine to run without the oil light coming on. When he discovered this he had the car towed back to the shop and they said "oh, the dial on the dispenser must have slipped again!"

Toyota dealers do not use Toyota oil. In fact, I don't know if Toyota even markets its own brand of oil. Our dealer uses Quaker State oil, others probably use whatever oil is cheapest from the jobber.

If you're using petroleum oil then any brand is pretty much the same as they are all made to meet the current API specification.

Synthetic oil opens a new can of worms.

I read this thread and just rolled my eyes. There's a sucker born every minute, and you're one of them - falling into the clutches of oil companies and their false advertising. Go by what your manual says, not what the people who are selling you their products say (A little hint - they're int the business of selling their product, not protecting your car, so naturally they're going to try and get you to buy their products, and it seems as if you've fallin' for their advertising)

It's a total waste to change your oil that early, a waste of your money and good oil. If anything, you should be worried about what kind of crappy filter the crap hole (Jiffy Lube) used on your vehicle. Don't worry, they probably used a Fram, the worst filters on earth

Do yourself a favor and eliminate the middleman, change your oil yourself, don't let the nimrods at "Jiffy lube" even touch your car.

I should have said "religious argument"! Don't worry, your synthetic is fine as long as it meets the basic motor oils specifications in your owner's manual. Most any synthetic you buy off the shelf at your local FLAPS will meet that spec.
