You have to reset it.... Push down on the ****/button in the center of the console by your odometer and turn your car to ACC, you will see it blink, keep holding it down..... It will look like this if your doing it right. - - - - -, - - - -, - - -, - -, -, 0.0....
You just have to hold that button down and keep in down until it resets.... :D

I never read unless there is pictures or illustrations. Lol actually that happened to me when I 1st got my car and I was like wtf is the problem already. I thought something was broke and blah blah blah. So I took out handy dandy manual and looked for the picture of the Maintenance Warning Signal and read up a little bit {Going against everything I stand for} and skadoosh what do ya know I forgot to reset after 5000 miles. Just reset it after every oil change, thats what I do anyways.

Not flaming.. just the way it is. Chances are, if there is a light on the dash, the manual tells you what it is for. If you cant find it then, search the forum for threads about it. If niether return results, then is the time to post a new thread and ask.

Just to answer the guys question.
The Maintenance required light is not associated with the engine diagnostics in any way. It is simply a "mileage count-down" type of setup. The number of miles required to make it turn on is determined by the reset process.
To reset the light, have the car in the "on" position, and change your trip odometer until it displays your overall mileage. Turn car off. Press and hold the button while turning car on.
You'll see dashed lines. To turn off the light, let all of the lines count down to zero. Afterwards, repeat the process, and release the button when the number of dashed lines is equal to "how many thousand miles" you want the light to come back on in.
If you leave 2 lines, it comes on in 2 thousand miles.
If you leave, 4, then 4,000.
I think you just held it just a smidge too long.
If you have an engine problem, your check engine light would come on.
If you have an oil problem, then the oil light would come on, though many would argue that at that point, it's too late.
