Default Maintanence Required Light Came On?

Hey guys whats up,

A couple of days ago i noticed when i started my car my maintanence required light would blink for about 5 sec and then go away.. Well just last night when i started my car the light came on for good. this includes when i am driving around. i thought that light only signified that you needed to change your oil. Is it for something else.. I just changed my oil. i have 1600 miles on the 5w-30 Royal Purple. i looked at my dipstick and it shows it to be fine..

Any suggestion why it could be on.. Is there anyway to check what it is trying to tel me. Remember this is not the Check Engine Light but the MAINT REQIRD light.

Thanks

think you gotta reset your chip or something..that happen to me too....um usually its only suppose to come on every 5000 miles to remind you that you need to get a check up and oil change but yea :/ you can pull the plug for your battery then put it back on that might reset your chip..i forgot how to manually reset it but yep

You didn't mentioned if you reset the counter after the oil change. Look in the owner's manual for the steps to reset.

obviously not. if he did he would of found the answer right away or known to look in the manual on what the gauges mean.

You probably blew the welds on the intake.

apparently you accidentally changed the interval to less than the default. That is not covered in the manual, but you can do it. Just reset it again per the instructions, then do it again when you do your next oil change so it will be correct again.

Hmmm... Perhaps we should show some grace to those who need it?

Just a thought...
