Maintenance Required light staying on too long?!
Recently my check engine light has been staying on much longer than the rest of the dash lights when starting the car. It flashes about 7-8 times then stops. Thing that worries me is im starting to think that im hearing a knock/ping upon acceleration as well as when driving up hills for just a short amount of time ( or it could be all the crap in the car just rattling away lol) I've been using regular gas and tried 89 just to see if it still does it and yep it does. Any Ideas?
Anyway, just as a reference point, how long does the engine light stay lit for on your dash after u turn on the car?

Get an oil change and ask your dealer to reset the main req'd light. If you did have an oil change recently, then just search for a reset procedure.
Don't confuse it with check engine light.

the light is probably nothing. you'll find other posts that say it's a reminder that you need an oil change. it's not on because the car found a problem, it's on because the odo is at a certain mileage.
to get the light to stop flashing, just hold the odo reset button and start the car. keep holding the button until the odo screen goes back to normal (it'll show you that it's reseting while you hold the button).

Im confused!
Your topic states "maintenance required light"
and then you say " check engine light"
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!
MRL = change your oil/reset button
CEL= take to dealer ASAP!
