so. my XA got keyed while parked in Manhattan last night.
it was only like 6pm and in front of a restaurant where people we sitting outside eating (Bleeker st) ugh. anyway. fortunately my car is black.....but what's the best way of fixing a scratch basically from above the back wheel, across both doors and on the front fender.
i heard there are kits for this sort of thing...

any help appreciated...

and i would really love to know what kind of joy someone could possibly get from keying a new car. people suck.
er. a lot of people suck

thanks,
stephen

get some langka or some Touch Up Magic. I have Touch Up Magic. It works as it is stated, but it took me a while to figure out how to get the best results. You have to put on the touch up paint in layers, wait for it to settle (days), then apply more layers if needed. Then you wipe touch up magic (via lint-free towel..t-shirt) and the excess with desolve. Don't rub too hard...or your chipped area will come off as well.. I'm still in the process of touching up 6 chips on my front end...[/url]

How deep is the scratch? If it's not too deep, meaning it's not gone all the way through the paint to the undercoat, a good detail shop may be able to remove it (or at least make it less noticable) by giving the scratch a good compound polish. This worked for my last car when these kinds of things happened.

it isn't that deep in places.
in some places it never went all the way through the black paint, and in other places it looks whiteish...like it made it to the primer.

guess i'll do some research for the best way to fix it.

NYC is weird because i never actually *SEE* anyone doing anything to anyone's car, but there are so many keyed cars and stuff.
i kind of thought Jersey would be worse, but i guess not!

thanks!
